Tour operator Thomas Cook have included the municipality of Agaete for the first time in their latest tourist packages on Gran Canaria. Subsidiary Vingresor – Ving Sverige AB have published a new catalogue for the next summer season, becoming the first Nordic tour operator to offer their Swedish clients the possibility of staying in this picturesque north-west enclave and port town.
“The inclusion of Agaete on commercial platforms for Thomas Cook and Ving comes after several years of close collaboration with the Cabildo of Gran Canaria in the promotion of the destination, in which they have always proposed the possibility of diversifying the places that appear in their catalogues and showing a different side of this attractive island”, said the President of the Tourism Board, Ines Jimenez, who pointed out that an image of Teror was already in use on the website of the tour operator since last winter.
Agaete Municipal Council now joins as the 12 destination that Swedish customers can select from to enjoy their holidays on Gran Canaria, so Ving has created a digital marketing campaign in which it describes the exuberant natural resources offered by the municipality, its rich gastronomy, peculiar architecture and the possibility of practicing outdoor sports throughout the year, such as hiking, cycling or diving with mask and tube.
“In this way, the Cabildo of Gran Canaria goes one step further in its commitment to sustainable tourism and to increase the quality of services offered by the Island, along with other initiatives such as recognition for ‘Gran Canaria Starlight Tourist Destination’, or The application from Risco Caído, in Artenara, as a UNESCO World Heritage site” added Jiménez, who highlighted the more than 120,000 Swedes that travelled with this tour operator to Gran Canaria in 2016, accounting for 35% of the 938,000 Nordic tourists who visited the island.
In their article that lists the charms of Agaete, the tour operator points out the tranquillity of the Port of Las Nieves and its surroundings are one of the attractions to the area, together with the experience of being able to stay in a fishing village and tries to encourage potential tourists to visit the “virgin” beaches of the north of Gran Canaria, as well as the natural pools of Las Salinas.
The Hotel & Spa Cordial Roca Negra, with its spacious rooms, sea view, spa service and renowned restaurant, is the establishment that Thomas Cook offers in its new summer campaign, integrating them into a network formed by more than 200 hotels and apartments, with whom the tour operator has agreements on Gran Canaria.
