A gorgeous, sunny March weekend ahead on Gran Canaria as the Carnival celebrations reach Maspalomas and the weather forecast is simply perfect. There are carnival parades to enjoy in Telde, Santa Lucía and La Aldea. The Southeast Fair is happening in Carrizal, Ingenio this weekend and Artenara celebrate their monthly market.
There is still time to enjoy the Spring Artisans’ fair by the Faro de Maspalomas lighthouse. Whatever your plans may be, it is a glorious weekend for any activity on the island. The central summits inland are also blooming with almond blossoms all across the hillsides.

MASPALOMAS INTERNATIONAL CARNIVAL 9-19 MARCH
The Maspalomas Carnival is celebrated between 9-19 March, Carnaval Internacional de Maspalomas de 2023.
The Theme for this year is Ritmos Latinos, Latin Rhythms, selected by popular vote.

Carnival in the south started on Thursday, March 09, at 20:30 with the Opening Show of the Carnival 2023 and the election of the Great Lady Gala on stage in the main square of the shopping centre Yumbo.
Dedicated to seductive silver surfers, grannies-with-go, elder states-ladies and streaking-hot-mamas-with-attitude; this lovely event celebrates women of lasting substance and standing in the local community who have been nominated for their representative kindness and lingering beauty.
On Friday, 10 March:
The election of the Carnival child Queen on the main square of the shopping centre Yumbo at 19:00.
Mogollón “party” starts at 23:00
On Saturday, 11 March:
the Carnival Queen Gala at 21:00 on stage in the main square of the shopping centre Yumbo.
The contest features much of the glamour, colour and magic of Carnival. Candidates compete in extravagant costumes, sponsored by major enterprises and commercial centers from across the island, hoping to be selected as this year’s Carnival Queen.

SANTA MARIA DE GUÍA CARNiVAL 10-11 MARCH
The municipality of Santa María de Guía celebrates Carnival between 10-11 March 2023.
♦ School Parade in the morning, with hundreds of schoolchildren from the municipality will return this year to fill the streets of the city centre with colour and bustle.
♦ Later in the evening, a night of humour starting at 20:00 at Plaza Grande with performances from murgas groups ACR Los Chismosos and La Chirichota as well as Daniel Calero, followed by a party with El Combo Dominicano.
♦ The parade starts at 12:00 from the beginning of Avenida Lomo Guillén to Plaza Grande through a wide tour of the different streets of the open commercial area of the town, accompanied by different troupes and music bands.
♦ Once at Plaza Grande, the great party of this day will continue with the music of La Mekanyca by Tamarindos, Aseres, Ulises Acosta, Los 600, Óscar Martínez, Tonny Bob and the Puerto Rican Tonny Tun Tun in what will be a great festive day.

CARNIVAL PARADE IN LA ALDEA - SATURDAY 11 MARCH
The streets of La Aldea de San Nicolás are ready to host the great Carnival Parade of “ El Olimpo ” this Saturday, which will depart at 18:00 from the Almacén de Los Picos.
The procession of masks and carnival costumes, which will be accompanied by floats, is scheduled to arrive at the Plaza Proyecto Desarrollo Comunitario around 22:00. During the journey, attendees will be able to enjoy and dance to the music, wearing the most original costumes, many of which will surely revolve around the theme of this year’s Carnival, Olympus, accompanied by batucadas and comparsas.
There will be traffic restrictions in the streets through which it will run, affecting the streets of María Eugenia Márquez , Román Rodríguez Rodríguez, Calle Real and Alfonso XIII.
19TH SOUTHEAST FAIR IN CARRIZAL 10-12 MARCH
The 19th edition of the Southeast Fair, 𝙁𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖 𝙙𝙚𝙡 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚 in Carrizal, municipality of Ingenio, runs between 10-12 March 2023.

THE 12TH SOUTHERN SPRINGTIME ARTISANS FAIR - CLOSING WEEKEND
The last chance, this weekend, to visit the 12ª Feria de Artesanía Primavera Sur‘. The artisan fair is open every day from 10:00 to 19:00. The perfect opportunity to see works by some of the best artisans and craftspeople of the Canary Islands; ceramics, wood, metal, leather, textiles, glass and recycled materials among others in a magnificent combination of traditional materials and modern design.
The artisans fair by FEDAC, the Foundation for Ethnography and Craft Development of the Canary Islands, set once again in the idyllic surroundings of The Lighthouse of Maspalomas.
ARTENARA MARKET - SATURDAY 11 MARKET
The island’s highest altitude mountain village, Artenara, holds an agricultural and farmers’ market on Saturday, 11 March 2023 from 11:00-15:00 in the picturesque Plaza de San Matias.
It really is a lovely car ride to go to see some of the most impossibly beautiful places on Gran Canaria and a trip up to the summits.
This market, Mercado Agrícola y Ganadero is held on the second Saturday of every month.
MARKETS IN THE SOUTH OF GRAN CANARIA
• Friday is always market day in Playa de Mogán in the morning. This popular market is in one of the prettiest fishing harbour towns on Gran Canaria, very popular with tourists.
• On Saturday, the Maspalomas market offers all kinds of textiles, Objet d‘art and other articles, located now in a new venue at Parque Europeo in Playa del Inglés, while the municipal market is being re-built. It is one of the markets most enjoyed among visitors along with Friday’s in Playa de Mogán;
El Mercadillo de Maspalomas is on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 08:00 to 14:00.
• On Saturday in Arguineguín, a small second-hand market on Plaza Negra (the marketplace) in the morning 09:00-14:00 with a wide range pre-loved treasures.
• On Sunday, the “rastro” second-hand market, ****The second-hand market now takes place in the Ciudad deportiva de Maspalomas, next to football field 2 and close to Pepe Chiringo and Parque Sur de Maspalomas.
• This Sunday, the biweekly little farmers’ and Artisan Market of Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria. The market is in the little park between the main road and the entrance of the Angry Birds Activity park.

“MUSICANDO” CONCERT SERIES IN LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA
The cellist, vocalist and composer Ana Carla Maza will open the “Musicando” concerts taking place in march with «Bahía»
A beautiful mix of classical cello and voice inspired by Son cubano, samba, bossa nova, tango, jazz and chanson, which will allow you to travel to the Havana neighbourhood where the artist grew up.
The new work in quartet format of Cuban music will sound this Saturday, starting at 21:00 in the heart of “Musicando”, the José Antonio Ramos Auditorium in Doramas Park.

These are the ‘LPA en Vivo‘, (‘LPA Live’) concerts and shows scheduled for the month of March in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. These gigs are part of another program of “LPA En Vivo”, a project to boost the cultural offer in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria venues and support artists.
