Storm headed for the Islands this Thursday

The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has warned of a storm front approaching the Archipelago, expected to arrive this Thursday and Friday.

The rainstorm, it is thought, will bring potentially quite heavy wet weather to the islands from the west and north west around 4 and 5 of May.

Intense rain last Saturday came as a surprise to many on the streets of Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria, where flash flooding, traffic jams and various safety security problems were encountered among many neighborhoods.

For the moment the AEMET has not issued any type of alert or advisory warning in relation to the this weather front, though this looks increasingly likely as the announcement was issued two days ahead of its expected arrival.

On their website AEMET forecast intense and persistent rain for Thursday, increasing during the second half of the day and for Friday drizzle is likely during the early hours of the morning.
