The Town Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana have planned important re-surfacing works over the next few weeks, aimed at improving more than 100,000 m2 along 32 public roads throughout the municipality, with an investment close to one million euros.
Asphalting will be carried out mainly in the urban areas of El Tablero, Sonnenland, Bellavista, San Agustín, Playa del Inglés, San Fernando and Campo Internacional de Maspalomas, as well as along the 4 km of road that leads to the neighbourhood of Lomo Perera and the 5 km to Calderín as well as Lomo de Los Azules from the tunnel under the main highway.
These asphalting works, which will also involve raising of ironworks, improved signaling and the elevation of ten pedestrian crossings (sleeping policemen) to reduce vehicle speeds, will focus on three sections of the GC-503 from the Health Centre to the ascent to La Montaña… specifically:
-Avenida de Las Américas (El Tablero)
-Calle Juan Bosch Millares and Calle Tomás Morales (in Sonnenland)
-Access to Sonnenland from the gas station at the Faro junction.

-Access to Sonnenland from the gas station at the Faro junction
-The tourist avenues of the tour operators Sagatours, Alpitour, Finnair, Mundicolor, Luxair and Tui (in Campo International)
-Access to Bellavista; The link in this one, the crossing between Calle Monserrat Caballé and Calle José Carreras and the roundabout access to the Autopista
-Avenida de Gran Canaria and Avenida de Tirajana from Hotel Riu Don Miguel to Hotel Riu Palaca ( Playa del Inglés)
-Calle Las Margaritas, Calle Los Girasoles, Calle Tajinaste, Calle Los Claveles, Calle Madreselva, Las Buganvillas and Las Pitas parking lot (San Agustín)
-Maspalomas-El Águila link stretch and the GC-500 service vial.
Also improvement work is planned along the main street of the rural centre of Cercados de Araña. This project includes correction works to about 7 sections of the road where rainwater stagnants due to a lack of adequate drainage, causing pools on the road and sometimes even floods in homes.
