Police seize 18 wild rabbits for sale on net

The General Police Corps Environment Group (GRUMA) have seized 18 adult rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus), which were being offered for sale on the internet being advertised as “wild rabbits to release”

The specimens were seized because the owner could not prove their ownership and origin.

These types of action are defined as illegal according to the Canary Islands Hunting Law 7/1998, of July 6. It stipulates the prohibition of the commercialisation of game species, such as the animals seized. The perpetrator was charged with an offense, classified as severe, with fines ranging from 600 to 3,000 euros.
