Policia Nacional in San Bartolomé de Tirajana have detained a 36-year-old Cameroonian national, with 67 previous police records, for allegedly having committed seven burglaries from apartments and bungalows in the south of Gran Canaria.
The robberies occurred over the last four months, and included the theft of mobile phones, tablets, household goods and cash. The detainee already has two judicial warrants for search and detention in force from a court of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Puerto del Rosario.
The investigation began when agents learned of several thefts in apartments and bungalows in which the author had used similar modus operandi. The police investigations allowed them to identify an individual of Cameroonian nationality as likely perpetrator of three robberies carried out at apartments and bungalows located in San Agustín, where €2,220 in cash had been taken. Subsequently agents located and arrested him.
Investigators say that the detainee may be related to four more robberies, perpetrated on the same dates in tourist complexes in the area and that a similar modus operandi had been utilised, the police report has been sent to the Judicial Authority before whom the detainee has been made available.
