Strong winds, calima & occasional downpours
An overcast start to Friday with moderate to high cloud. A probability of showers, mainly on the South side of the island, with Calima likely. Temperatures unchanged at about 17°C to a maximum of 21° in the shade. Northeast winds turning east with strong intervals, more intense gusts on north and south coasts, midland areas and the peaks. Loose variable winds on the western coasts.
A Yellow Advisory (denoting Risk) has been activated by the Spanish Sate Meteorological Agency, AEMET, across all islands for the whole weekend. Strong winds gusting up to 70 km/h and on Sunday possibly up to 80 km/h are now expected. Wrap up warm if you need to go out, batten down the hatches at home and remove any loose items from balconies or terraces.
Saturday looks set to start much the same, overcast with moderate to high clouds. A probability of further showers, which may be locally intense on eastern slopes of the island. Probability of calima, Saharan dust in the air reducing visibility. Temperatures will see no significant change. East winds with strong intervals, more intense on north and south coasts, inland and on the peaks. Loose variable breezes on western coasts.
