The Canary Islands Government Directorate of Security has declared an archipelago wide alert for storms under their Canary Island Emergency Plan Risk protocol for unfavourable weather conditions.

Before the storm, the Canarian Government recommends closing doors and stopping drafts; electrical appliances should be unplugged if the storm is accompanied by lightning and road travel should be avoided, among other precautionary measures.
The Islands are also on alert for rain from 16.00 on Tuesday. Rainfall is expected to begin on the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma, according to forecasts by the Meteorological Agency Aemet, and then forecast to move east to the other islands.
