Thursday, 3 of November is the feast of St. Martin de Porres, patron saint of public health workers, mixed-race people, barbers, innkeepers and all those seeking racial harmony. It is celebrated locally as a day of recognition for all those who clean the streets, public areas, beaches and who collect domestic waste. Therefore today none of these services operate in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, as it is a holiday for the many employed to keep our public spaces clean.
The Town Hall of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, through a mayoral Bando, notified the general public this week, requesting the collaboration of not only residents, but also public institutions. The cooperation of bars, restaurants, hotel and extra hotel facilities is asked to refrain from taking out any rubbish on Thursday as normal collections will not resume before Friday.
