The Minister of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Knowledge, Pedro Ortega, has signed the order to confirm the ten Sundays and holidays allowing commercial establishments on each island to open throughout 2017.

Current legislation requires the Government of the Canary Islands to determine the particular Sundays and public holidays when shops may remain open to the public in the area of the Canary Islands.

The Ministry says that it is important that consumers know that each trader can freely choose the opening hours for any Sunday or public holiday in which they operate.

For Gran Canaria the days are :
January 8
April 13 and 30
August 15
December 3, 8, 10, 17, 24 and 31
