Long overdue resurfacing works have been announced for the main southern motorway, the GC-1, commencing improvement, rehabilitation and new asphalt for the section of highway between San Fernando and Arguineguín.
The condition of the road has been much complained about by our readers and other road users, having been in a worsening state for several years, and is now finally getting fixed.
Works start this Sunday 18 December, always at night, from 22:00-06:00 and will last until work is finished. So be prepared for the potential of delays, though the people responsible are going to do everything they can to finish as quickly as possible
Just before Christmas, some are even rumouring that we may be able to say goodbye to the 90 km/hour speed limitations that frustrate so many drivers.
If you are out and driving during nights, please pay attention to any temporary signals or driving restrictions!
