🌞 Sun & Heat
Daytime temperatures reach a comfortable 25–27°C in most coastal areas, feeling warmer in direct afternoon sun. UV levels remain very high (8–9), so sunscreen (SPF 50+), hats, and shade breaks are essential to protect skin. It’s best to avoid prolonged sun exposure between 12:00 and 16:00. For outdoor events or walking, carry water to stay hydrated. Highland areas offer milder conditions around 20–23°C, making them perfect for attending mountain fiestas or hiking in pleasant weather.

🏖 Beaches
Southern and western beaches such as Mogán, Puerto Rico, and Maspalomas enjoy long sunny spells, light breezes, and calm seas with water temperatures around 23–24°C. Ideal for swimming and family outings. The north coast starts with some early cloud cover but clears to bright and sunny afternoons, with a moderate Atlantic swell that watersports enthusiasts may appreciate. Remember that UV reflection off water and sand is intense—extra care is advised for children at the beach.

🎉 Events
This weekend’s schedule overflows with enticing options:

  • Vega de San Mateo hosts the XII Feria Regional de Patchwork alongside its patron saint festivities.

  • The lively San Mateo Weekend Market offers fresh local produce and crafts.

  • Sports fans can enjoy the ETB Gran Canaria Pro bodyboard European tour action.

  • In Las Palmas, SUM Festival and MASDANZA 2025 bring music and dance performances at Infecar and other venues.

  • Agüimes celebrates the lively and messy 48th Bringing of Gofio and Water procession on Saturday under warm, dry skies.

  • Valleseco’s Apple and Incarnation festivities with a livestock fair provide great family entertainment in the cooler mountain air.

  • Markets bustle across the island at Mesa y López and Musicando festival stages.

🚗 Travel & Safety
Mountain roads may see increased traffic due to patron saint festivals—allow extra time when traveling inland. Evening temperatures drop to 14–17°C in higher elevations, so pack a light jacket for night events. Sea conditions remain safe for swimmers, but always heed local flags and current warnings. Staying hydrated and using reef-safe sunscreen will help protect both visitors and Gran Canaria’s precious coastal ecosystems.

Overview ☀️

🌴 #GranCanariaWeather

Gran Canaria heads into the weekend with prime October weather.

Skies will be mostly clear across the island, with the north seeing some morning and late evening cloud intervals, while the south and central areas enjoy abundant sunshine.

Daytime temperatures are firmly in the mid-20s °C, cooling gently overnight.

A mix of moderate onshore breezes and lighter winds inland ensures air feels comfortably fresh, especially along the north and east coasts.

Sea temperatures remain warm, making for ideal beach conditions.

No weather warnings have been issued, and rain risk is virtually nonexistent for the first part of the week.

#GranCanariaWeather 10-12 October

Friday, October 10

  • Weather: North coast starts with cloud patches, mostly clearing by noon, while the rest of the island enjoys mostly sunny weather. The evening may bring some localized mist or light cloud to the highest altitudes and northern valleys.

  • Temperatures: Minimum 18°C, Maximum 26°C in Las Palmas (higher in sheltered southern valleys). Coastal water temperature remains at 23–24°C.

  • Winds: Moderate, predominantly from the N/NE, up to 15 km/h on open coasts.

  • Other: UV index is high (8) and afternoon humidity drops, so sun protection is still crucial.

Saturday, October 11

  • Weather: Overall, expect bright and settled weather, with largely unobstructed sunshine. North and northeast may see some light cloud returning by evening, though the afternoon is set to be warm across the island.

  • Temperatures: Early lows around 19°C, highs again reaching 26°C; southern resorts may locally touch 27°C.

  • Winds: Light seas breezes, 10–15 km/h, shifting from the east toward the west as the day progresses.

  • Other: Seawater remains warm, very slight swell. Ideal for outdoor events and beaches. UV index at 8.

Sunday, October 12

  • Weather: Brief cloud in the north to start, with another day of clear skies elsewhere. Inland, the afternoon heat peaks gently before easing into a pleasantly warm evening.

  • Temperatures: 18–26°C, little day-to-day change; “feels like” stays in the low mid-twenties.

  • Winds: Light S/SW breezes, weakest of the weekend—perfect for coastal fun.

  • Other: UV index dips slightly, but sunglasses and cover-ups advisable after midday.

🔭 Looking Ahead to Next Week

Outlook for the Week Ahead

  • Monday/Tuesday: Weather remains stable into next week. Clear to partly cloudy conditions, especially in inland and southern zones. Maximum temperatures settle at 25–26°C, with minimums of 18–19°C. Winds stay modest (mainly N/NE at 10–15 km/h), with the sea continuing warm and calm. Overnight and early morning humidity increases in the north and highlands could bring patchy cloud or brief mist but no significant rainfall is likely.

  • Midweek (Wednesday/Thursday): A slight pattern change is possible as the week progresses. While the first half of the week is dry, some models indicate humidity will increase, raising the chance of afternoon clouds, especially over north/northeast-facing slopes. Temperatures will continue typical of October—highs reaching 26–27°C, with nighttime lows at 19°C. There is a very low but increasing chance (5–25%) of light showers, most probably in the northern areas or uplands, especially Wednesday afternoon onward.

  • Winds and General Conditions: Winds will be lighter, shifting to more variable directions midweek—expect periods of flat calm inland and gentle breezes on coasts. The north-facing coasts and highlands may remain breeziest in the afternoons, but nothing disruptive or uncomfortable is forecast.

  • Sea and Activities: Calm seas expected all week, with water temperatures holding steady around 23–24°C. Tides are favorable for beachgoers, and no significant swells are anticipated.

  • UV and Sun: The UV index eases slightly late in the week but remains elevated—fitting for sunbathing but warranting standard protection. Daylength shortens gradually but there will still be plenty of daylight hours for outdoor events, sports, and excursions.

  • Summary Outlook: The pattern shows exceptional stability for October, with only brief passing clouds and the smallest chance of showers late in the week. Outdoor activities, markets, and community events should proceed without weather disruption, and the coast offers warm, inviting conditions for swimming, boating, or relaxation all week.

7th Eco Rally Canarias | Saturday

Gran Canaria and Tenerife Host the Most Alternative Rally, The Eco Rally Canarias, between 10-11 October 2025.

The rally tests all the registered teams in their different categories: electric, plug-in hybrids, and conventional hybrids. A unique competition that places greater emphasis on efficient driving, achieved through a compromise between lower energy consumption and consistent average speeds, was proposed by the organizers. This is made even more difficult by holding the event on roads open to normal traffic, with the usual problems encountered by the eco-rally convoy.

The Shopping Centre Alisios is the headquarters for the rally and where the cars are also be located.

Saturday’s stage on Gran Canaria, with a route of approximately 130 km and four TRs totalling approximately 85 km of regularity, with two intermediate regroupings in Valleseco and Moya. In total, the stages will feature approximately 180-190 checkpoints, one for every 800 m of stage, which is higher than the usual average for other CEEA rallies.
