🌞 Sun & Heat
Daytime temperatures reach a comfortable 25–27°C in most coastal areas, feeling warmer in direct afternoon sun. UV levels remain very high (8–9), so sunscreen (SPF 50+), hats, and shade breaks are essential to protect skin. It’s best to avoid prolonged sun exposure between 12:00 and 16:00. For outdoor events or walking, carry water to stay hydrated. Highland areas offer milder conditions around 20–23°C, making them perfect for attending mountain fiestas or hiking in pleasant weather.

🏖 Beaches
Southern and western beaches such as Mogán, Puerto Rico, and Maspalomas enjoy long sunny spells, light breezes, and calm seas with water temperatures around 23–24°C. Ideal for swimming and family outings. The north coast starts with some early cloud cover but clears to bright and sunny afternoons, with a moderate Atlantic swell that watersports enthusiasts may appreciate. Remember that UV reflection off water and sand is intense—extra care is advised for children at the beach.

🎉 Events
This weekend’s schedule overflows with enticing options:

  • Vega de San Mateo hosts the XII Feria Regional de Patchwork alongside its patron saint festivities.

  • The lively San Mateo Weekend Market offers fresh local produce and crafts.

  • Sports fans can enjoy the ETB Gran Canaria Pro bodyboard European tour action.

  • In Las Palmas, SUM Festival and MASDANZA 2025 bring music and dance performances at Infecar and other venues.

  • Agüimes celebrates the lively and messy 48th Bringing of Gofio and Water procession on Saturday under warm, dry skies.

  • Valleseco’s Apple and Incarnation festivities with a livestock fair provide great family entertainment in the cooler mountain air.

  • Markets bustle across the island at Mesa y López and Musicando festival stages.

🚗 Travel & Safety
Mountain roads may see increased traffic due to patron saint festivals—allow extra time when traveling inland. Evening temperatures drop to 14–17°C in higher elevations, so pack a light jacket for night events. Sea conditions remain safe for swimmers, but always heed local flags and current warnings. Staying hydrated and using reef-safe sunscreen will help protect both visitors and Gran Canaria’s precious coastal ecosystems.
