Parque Romano will host “Doggie Race Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2017” on 16 and 17 December , a race in which dogs will be the real stars.

The initiative, which includes workshops, talks, dog shows and other activities, seeks to raise awareness about the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need for Pet Friendly spaces. On December 16, the race for the care and adoption of pets is being celebrated, a unique and special race where people and their pet dogs run as a family.

The race is to have two categories. In the Runner Category the runners and their pets will compete over a distance of 3 kilometers and in the Family Category minors will be able to participate with their pets along a route of 1 kilometer, participation is open to all dog breeds and owners. The first in each category to reach the goal of the “Doggie Race Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2017” will be awarded a prize, although the ultimate goal of this initiative is of course not competitive but aimed at encouraging the active practice of physical exercise, spending a day with family -human and doggy – and raise awareness about the importance of having a pet . In addition, this race aims to promote increased green spaces dedicated to pets, little by little dogs are becoming more accepted and welcome in more public places and cities are becoming more Pet Friendly.

The race has a website for registration (doggierace.es) , which includes all the information about the event. Until next Sunday, December 3, runners can get their early registration at a special price: 8 euros (adult + dog) and 5 euros (children up to 18 years + dog). Those who register will have the right to participate in the race, and to enjoy the activities and services included in the “Doggie Race Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2017”, both on the 16th (from 10am to 3pm and from 4pm to 6pm) and the next day (from 10.30am until 2pm).

From Sunday, the price of registration will increase to €10 (adult + pet) and €8 (children up to 18 years + pet).
