Frontonking, the International bodyboarding championship, is coming to an end this Saturday, with its last parties.

“The clocks ‘fall’ back this Sunday night as 2 am becomes 1 am. Winter is on its way!”

“With the arrival of autumn, thousands of Cory’s shearwater chicks take their first night flight from the cliffs to the sea.  But instead of following the moonlight, many are dazzled by urban lighting, especially in densely populated coastal areas. This disorients them, causing them to fall to the ground, crash into lampposts or power lines, and even be run over.”

💙  If you find an injured shearwater, the first thing to do is to catch it, using a rag if it tries to bite you. Don’t leave it for later, because they’re capable of hiding.

💙  Then carefully place it in a cardboard box; other materials tend to damage the feathers, and they are more delicate than they appear at first glance.

💙 It’s also a good idea to fill the bottom of the box with sawdust or newspaper shavings, which act as absorbents for any animal droppings. You can ventilate the inside of the box by making a few holes in it.

💙  Once closed, leave the box in a quiet place, protected from the sun or rain, and call the emergency numbers: 112,  Guardia Civil, Local Police, Red Cross, Civil Protection, or the Environmental Department.

💙 Do not give any water or food.

Overview ☀️

🌴 #GranCanariaWeather

This final weekend of October on Gran Canaria brings not only reliable autumn sunshine but also a packed calendar of activities and vibrant community gatherings right around the island. The weather is set to provide an ideal backdrop for both outdoor enthusiasts and culture lovers, perfectly timed for the headline events taking place.

Foremost among this week’s happenings is the Gran Canaria Walking Festival, running through Sunday. This annual favourite draws hikers from all over Europe and beyond to explore some of the island’s most stunning landscapes, from the spectacular trails of Tejeda and Artenara to the lush valleys skirting the Reserva de la Biosfera. Clear skies, light winds and mild temperatures will enhance every trek, and routes finishing in Agaete, San Bartolomé and Mogán are sure to shine in the tranquil autumn sun.

Saturday and Sunday also bring the Feria Km.0 in Telde and Melenara—a must for foodies and families, celebrating Gran Canaria’s best local products and culinary talent. Expect a friendly, bustling atmosphere as locals and visitors sample cheeses, wines, pastries and more in open-air conditions expected to be flawless for wandering the stalls or lounging seaside.

The beaches of Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, Puerto Rico and Mogán are set to be in top form for holidaymakers and locals alike, offering plenty of sun and little wind. Sports lovers should take note: water conditions remain gentle for surfing, swimming and sailing, and participants in ongoing late October regattas or open water swims will benefit from these favourable seas. Las Palmas meanwhile hosts several city events, including live music and market fairs, all taking place without weather disruptions.

In short, every corner of the island—from the cobbled streets of Telde to the resort promenades of the southwest—will see uninterrupted celebration under classic Canarian autumn skies. With no sign of rain or weather warnings before Sunday night, it is a prime weekend to be out and about at any of Gran Canaria’s main events.

🔭 Looking Ahead to Next Week

Looking Ahead: Week Beginning Monday 27 October

24-26 October 2025

Maspaterror in Parque del Sur de Maspalomas | 24-25 October 👻 👺 💀

The 2nd “Maspaterror” on Friday and Saturday, 24-25 October 2025, in Parque del Sur. Celebrate Halloween with the family.

FREE ENTRY!

17:00-22:00 Parque del Sur will host a youth and family show with an interactive haunted house, workshops, a flashmob, a virtual room, an open-air cinema, and a horror soundtrack concert.

The Parque Urbano del Sur will host the second edition of ‘Maspaterror,’ a fun and engaging initiative by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council for young people and families. It aims to raise awareness and educate about the serious consequences of environmental degradation caused by pollution and waste misuse.

The event will take place near the amphitheater with a rich cultural and scenographic presence. The haunted house will feature nine interactive rooms and a 3D virtual one set in a dystopian future, where attendees can experience firsthand and appreciate the shocking and undesirable effects of pollution as a real, major problem on this planet.

This year, Maspaterror offers adrenaline and fear, but also awareness. The show abandons classic horror film tropes, such as possessed girls, dream killers, and legendary monsters and creatures, to focus on a much more real and tangible horror, such as the accumulation of waste and environmental degradation. Harmful pollution is affecting water, air, land, and even acoustics, and we all have an obligation to speak out, explain, and reverse it.
