A lovely local fiesta, the patronal saint celebration in honour of the Holy Trinity in the southern residential neighborhoods of El Tablero, on the other side of the GC-1 from Sonnenland, started the summer fiesta season last weekend and will continue until 19 May 2019.

Some of the highlights still to coming include On Tuesday from 17:00 Children’s activities and and entertainment throughout the main shopping area of El Tablero.

On Wednesday 15,  in the main Plaza World Day of Families is to be celebrated from 17:00 with a family show and later at 21:00 the XIX Meeting of Soloists ‘Juan Gil’, organized by the Sociocultural and Musical Association La Cucaña.

 Thursday the 16th, starting at 17:00 bwill be traditional games for children and young people, and a Gala show for older residents, which will feature a theatrical staging by the La Cuadrilla Group, which will pay tribute to Rocío Dúrcal and Juan Gabriel. And from 21:00 a dance show in the plaza.

On Friday 17th at 17:00 Children’s activities including bouncy castles and various play workshops in the Plaza.  There will also be a family theatre in the Cultural Centre from 19:00 and in the Plaza a Night of Taifas, traditional dancing and music.


On Saturday the 18th,  between 11:00-12:30 there will be a foam party for children at Plaza de El Tablero.

At 12:00 Bajada la Rama, the lowering the branch procession (a quirky pre hispanic tradition still included in many of the main island celebrations). Departure of the street procession will be from the parking lot of I.E.S Tablero school and travel via the main streets to the Plaza.

From 17:00 a birthday bash dedicated to all the children at the Plaza de El Tablero. There is also to be a FREE master class in salsa at 20:30 and at 22:00 a concert performed by popular local Gran Canaria rock/pop group Los 600.

The verbena street party will be from 23:45 and fireworks at midnight with late night entertainment by Güira latina and Furia Joven.


Sunday will start very early in the morning awakening with the “diana floreada” marching band from 05:30.
Later the eucharist is celebrated at 11:00 in the church followed by a religious procession.

The distribution of The Great Paella, will serve about 5,000 people, and is scheduled for 14:00.

Music will continue throughout El Tablero in to the evening and at 21:00 the last gala to finish up this year’s celebrations with some Spanish humor from the hilarious Kike Pérez.
