Traffic impact
The crash triggered several kilometres of tailbacks, with long queues forming as emergency services worked to clear the road. The GC-1 is the island’s main transport artery, linking the south with the capital, and incidents here often have a ripple effect on mobility across the region. Traffic flow was not restored until all vehicles had been removed from the scene.
Emergency response
Local emergency crews were quickly mobilised, with an Emerlan ambulance among the first to attend. One of the occupants sustained cervicalgia (neck pain), a common injury in rear-end impacts, and received treatment at the roadside before being transferred to the Clínica Roca for further observation. Fortunately, no other occupants required hospital care.
