First phase of the Marañuelas-Anfi walk should be complete at the end of January

The first phase of the work to rejuvenate the Marañuelas-Anfi promenade, linking rguineguín with Anfi del Mar, along a 2.5 kilometer stretch of Mogán’s coastline, is to be completed by the end of January, according to the local town hall. More than 20 years since the “blockade and paralysis” of this long overdue project, its first phase is to finally be completed with the second stage already having secured funding.

The rehabilitation works have completely transformed La Lajilla beach (also known as Costa Alegre), improving the natural pool, creating a solarium, green areas, equipping it with 500 cubic meters of white sand and, in the near future, a refreshments kiosk will also be installed. In addition, the installation of public lighting, irrigation, sanitation, telecommunications, gardening and a promenade protected from the tides are all included in this work.

The canalization of the Costa Alegre ravine that leads to the La Lajilla beach has also been carried out, with the aim that flows coming from rainwater surface runoffs do not reach the beach, as has happened in the past when there were heavy rains, which caused damage in the area.

The Second phase

After completing the first phase, by mid 2018 the second stage is due to begin, which will consist of the rehabilitation of the 272 meter walk from the natural pool of Costa Alegre to the La Carrera beach. Both the Government of the Canary Islands and the Government of Spain have committed to finance the project with €1.8 million in total.

This will include resurfacing of the promenade, the placement of a breakwater that will protect the walkway from storms, the extension of La Carrera beach with the contribution of sand and the construction of a viewpoint.

The second phase project also includes street furniture along the avenue and a prefabricated toilet module in the beach area. Likewise, it will have different adapted accesses to allow its use by people with reduced mobility.

Inauguration of the walkway adjacent to the GC-500

Another of the works that will be inaugurated in Mogán in early 2018 will be the rehabilitated pedestrian promenade attached to the GC-500 road that connects Arguineguín with Patalavaca.

This more than 700 meter walk is at an approximate height of 25 meters above sea level and enjoys privileged views along the Mogán coastline.
