The 19th “Dirt Road” Rally, on Gravel, Santa Lucía de Tirajana between 28-29 April 2023

The 2023 season in the land modality will begin in the Canary Islands in a big way at the end of April. Santa Lucía de Tirajana-Gran Canaria Rally de Tierra will be the first event of the year with some 60 teams, which will also be accompanied by the first slalom, as is customary with the Tirajana event. The organisation of the CD. Evesport has already prepared the appointment for April 28 and 29, with headquarters in Vecindario of this municipality in the southeast of Gran Canaria, which continues to be the main sponsor and promoter of the event, together with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and its Department of Sports.

Work has been going on to improve the surface of the timed sections, with various machines doing this work so that the tracks are ready for Saturday, April 29. On Friday 28 and always in Vecindario (fairground) there will be the verifications and the departure ceremony (19:30), one more year in the nearby Plaza de San Borondón, next to the Sitio Ibérico Restaurant, one of the collaborators of the organisation.

The event cannot publicise its route, but given the few possibilities that exist, it will again be focused on the Tirajana-Pozo Izquierdo and Bahía Feliz ravines, routes that will remain closed until the day of their celebration, since they have been adapted for the rally.

The rally is made up of eight timed sections -three different-, which will take place between 10:00-18:00 on Saturday, April 29, with lengths between 9.5 and 6.2 km. The route book totals 176 km, of which 61 correspond to specials, which represents 34% of the route, with verifications of the vehicles at the Recinto Ferial de Vecindario (the headquarters) on the afternoon of Friday, April 28, plus the departure ceremony starting at 19:30 from the Plaza San Borondón.

This will be the first scoring round of the new Canary Islands Land Rally Championship (FCA) and also of the Las Palmas Championship (FALP).

Together and as has been done in previous years, one of the timed sections will be the setting for the first Slalom of Santa Lucía de Tirajana 2023, the Gran Canaria Island Championship, where, in addition to passenger cars, car-crosses and quads will be able to participate.
