Another gorgeous Gran Canaria Spring weekend ahead as April gets into full swing with a possibility of a light rain showers inland and in the north. There are a multitude of events around the island to go and visit.
6-15 April, El Pajar, San Bartolome de Tirajana
Fiestas de Santa Águeda del Pajar
The little coastal population just next to Arguineguin, El Pajar, are celebrating their main patron saint fiestas. Festivities start this Friday and continue until 15th of April.
On Friday, at 18:00 a little street procession with street band, will include the big Papier-mâché dolls and Disney characters. At 20:30 a latin dance exhibition by the students will be followed by the traditional “Pregon” an official opening ceremony, which includes a speech by the Mayor, Marco Aurelio Pérez among others, and is followed by a late night party with music and chiringuitos.
On Saturday, in the morning at 10:00 a fishing competition and in the evening the main Romeria, a pilgrimage offering starting at 18:30 followed by a Verbena , a late night party.
On Sunday a traditional Zanga card tournament at 11:00 and from 12:30 – 17:00 there is an exhibition of VW beetles on the main street, beach games, inflatables and music performances and in the evening at 20:30 an election gala to choose El Pajar´s little prince and princess ( 3-8 yrs ) with a Disney princess show and local kids performing on the stage.
6-8 April, Mogán
Mogán Young Fest 2018. Festival Manga y Game Party
The perfect weekend to take any kids who are interested in games and comics to the southern fishing-cum-tourist town of Arguineguín.
The Manga Festival and Electronic Games Party, held in Plaza Pérez Galdós in Arguineguín will have more than 30 stalls, including several stages, workshops and another space for ‘Game Party ‘ A large influx of young people is expected.

ENORTE, a Feria Empresarial del Norte de Gran Canaria
The 17th northern Gran Canaria business fair is held this year in Arucas old town.
The Fair has a large play area in the Municipal Gardens, great food and drink on offer in the city center, and an agenda of activities (concerts, tastings, exhibitions, etc.) organised throughout the weekend showcasing the best of 10 northern municipalities.

Saturday 7 April, La Aldea
Primavera de Sensaciones
La Aldea de San Nicolas, the western most town on Gran Canaria, have their second edition of ‘Spring Sensations’, a day with activities for the whole family to celebrate the arrival of the season. The date also coincides with the first anniversary of the opening of the first section of the new west coast highway. 14 different kinds of activities have been scheduled, all free, starting from 9:00 to 00:00 on Saturday at Calle Real and nearby.
The day begins with the Agricultural, Craft and Accessories Market on Calle Real with stalls of fresh produce, artisans, stores and accessories. ( 09:00-14:00) From 10:30, the Network of Living Museums managed by the Cultural Project of Community Development, will open its doors. In total, 15 museums dedicated to water, traditional clothing, tomato packaging, oil and vinegar shops, butchers, a rural doctor, the school, the shoemaker, barber or blacksmith, musicians of the municipality or the Gañanía.
At 11:00, at “centro de Mayores”, a cooking workshop under the title ‘Sensations’, with local products and the collaboration of the Biosphere Reserve.
At 12:00, children’s theatre for the little ones with ‘Surfer Clown’, in Calle Matías Vega, next to Calle Real.
From 12:30, Masterclass with Ron La Aldea, where you can learn to make the best combinations with this drink, which although nowadays is produced in La Palma, its origins are from La Aldea.
From 13:00, “Fiesta Rociera” ( a flamenco party ) in the Porch of the Church ‘Los Carmona’ and Feria de Abril Cultural Association.
At 13:30 & 18:30, tasting the craft beer ‘Jaira’. This date is very important, after ‘Buchito’ by Jaira, has been recognized with the bronze medal at the Barcelona Beer Festival, the most important international trade fair in southern Europe.
The students of the PFAE, in collaboration with the Local Development Agency, organize a tasting on Calle Real starting at 15:30. One hour later, a guided tour of 20 historical sites in the Casco del Municipio.
During the afternoon there are two workshops, offered by the Airam Salsa Academy, at 17:00 and 18:00, as a prelude to the great closing of the day that will start with a salsa concert at 19:00.
And from 21:00 pm, the best music of the 80s and 90s from ‘Backing Tracks’ and ‘Los Salvapantallas’.
Saturday 7 April, Santa Lucia
43º Rallye Ciudad de Telde
43rd Rally of the city of Telde. Itinerary is as follows: The first part of the rally will see qualifying sections from La Solana – Valsequillo (6.8 km.) The second is a stretch from Casas Blancas – Los Picos (8,8 km.) with start in the vicinity of La Culata Restaurant and the finish line at the 60km point 23,310 of the GC-130. In this first part of the rally there will be two regroupings in Valsequillo.
The second part of the rally, a bit more well-known, will this year see some important variations, with the sections of Los Cuchillos – Era del Cardón (12.2 km.), this being the longest stretch of the rally, with a start at Pozo Rojo and finishing at Finca Falcon Cresta, followed by Cuatro Puertas – Cruz de Jerez (7.7 km.) from Cuatro Puertas to Telde, crossing Cercado Grande and finish at the entrance of the Puros Factory of Jerez.
The technical verifications will be carried out on Friday, April 6, at the main car park of the Shopping Center Las Terrazas from 17:00 and then proceed to the departure ceremony of the rally at 20:00. The test will start on Saturday from 08:00
And when there is a rally it also means roads will be closed for the duration of the each sections.

Musicando
Boleros, fado and traditional Canarian music come together from every weekend until June 2 in the third year of the Musicando program.
This Saturday evening its Domingo Todríguez “El Colorado” performing at the auditorium of Parque Doramas, starting at 21:00, with a free outdoor concert in Las Palmas.
