A glorious weekend ahead, so get ready. There are a few big events going on, few more anticipated than the Maspalomas Carnival parade and the big tasty “Gran Canaria Me Gusta” food fair in Las Palmas. Artenara, the island’s highest village, invites you to discover them in the mountains and there is to be beach volley ball at the little Anfi beach

The “Gran Canaria I like” food fair aims to make known various characteristics and flavoursome aspects of Gran Canaria as well as being a catalysst for professional food and hospitatlity industry meetings for the promotion of local produce.

The sectors that are going the be present at the fair include agriculture, livestock and fishing; gastronomy; hospitality industry and crafts; culture and folklore; flowers and plants, nature and the environment; sports; local and rural tourism among others.

There will be a full weekend of children’s workshops, show cooking, product tastings and so much more.

Opening hours : Friday and Saturday 11.00-20.00 and on Sunday 11.00-17.00

Entrance fee : €2,50


9-11 MARCH, MASPALOMAS 
MASPALOMAS INTERNATIONAL CARNIVAL 

Its the main weekend of southern carnival so get ready for some medieval celebration in Maspalomas

On Friday, tourist day 
starts with the official Carnival float travelling around the tourist areas and residential neighbourhoods announcing of the Gran Carnival weekend ahead (last Friday´s attempt was a bit of a wash out in the rain, this week should be full of gusto!). The float leaves from the Mercado Municipal de San Fernando at 11:00am.

On the tourist Day ( dia de turista ) at 12:00  the ” Rescue of the Sardine”.

Carnival music and a dance parade start from the area of Charca (the natural brackish pond near the lighthosue) and travels literally along the beach all the way to the Playa del Inglés ANEXO II.

On Calle Dunas in Anexo II, there are to be shows, games, attractions, as well as a music concert.

In the evening, the Tourist Gala is presented on the stage at shopping centre Yumbo starting from 21:00. It is a chance to see various performances, with the elected Queens and Drags all making a tour, much to the bemusement of the confused tourists.

On Saturday, the parade, gran cabalgata 
The big parade from 17:00, with 100 floats and tens of thousands upon tens of thousands of people joining in to either participate or watch,

Maspalomas will be in deadlock with street closures and a sea of be-costumed revelling people.

The  floats will starts from El Veril heading towards Playa del Inglés, Avenida de Gran Canaria and on to Avenida del touroperador TUI

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On Sunday, Carnival at the beach
from 14:00 the Beach carnival starts at Anexo II by the sea front.

It’s a huge beach party with non stop music and entertainment.

In the Evening the carnival ends with the traditional Funeral of the Sardine at 20:00. The funeral procession and mock wake starts from the tourist office by the Yumbo and travels via Alfereces Provisionales down to the beach, followed by the reading of the last will and testament to this years celebrations, followed by the burning of the sardine and fireworks.
