The body of a 58-year-old German man was found this Friday floating just off the coast of Mogán, on the south-west of Gran Canaria.
At 10:42 a.m. the main 112 Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert stating that the body of a person was floating face down in the sea, about five meters from the shore , in an area of cliffs difficult to access by land, between the beaches of Amadores and Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria.
The lifeguards from the Mogán Town Council beach service recovered the victim from the sea and, together with the Puerto Rico Park Consortium Firefighters, after verifying that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest , began to practice resuscitation manoeuvres.
A doctor and a nurse from the Arguineguín health centre , who went to the scene together with SUC personnel, confirmed the death of the man, who also had various other injuries.
The corporal and firefighters from the Puerto Rico park who were on duty took charge of moving the body to an area where a Maritime Rescue vessel was able to arrive and bring the dead man to shore.
The Guardia Civil watched over the body of the deceased until the arrival of the judicial authorities.
