The seaside tourist area and neighborhood of Playa de Mogán will once more fill its streets this Saturday, April 13, with brushes and easels to celebrate the ninth edition of the popular Rapid Painting Contest organised by the Town Hall of Mogán. The event will bring together artists of various nationalities who must carry out a single work, in a short period of time, free style in techniques, that deals with the landscape, monuments or people of this Mogañero enclave.

The contest will be open for anyone to join on the day of the contest from 08:30. Each participant must pay €5 and be over 16 years. Children under this age may also participate but are not included in the contest.

Each artist must come with the materials necessary for the realisation of their work and an easel for later exhibition. Each canvas should be within a minimum 50 cm and a maximum of 120 cm on any of its sides, it should be white and without textures on its surface. Any previously used will not be accepted, while those that use watercolor paper or similar should come mounted in a frame or rigid support.

At 9:00 the painters start and have limited time until 15:00 to finish and then they are placed as exhibition. These works may be of any style and technique, but will have to be focused on the landscape, monuments or people of this town. At 18:00, the jury’s decision will be announced.

The organisers will award three main prizes – the first will be 1,500 euros, the second 1,000 euros and the third 500 euros and seven runners-up valued at 300 euros. The first two prizes of the contest will become part of the artistic fund of the City of Mogán and and another prize will go to the sponsors. The artists of the non-awarded works will be able to manage their free sale in a particular way, collecting it at the end of the event starting from 19:00.
