The Administrative Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) have endorsed authorisations granted for the construction of the new Siam Park Gran Canaria water park in the El Veril basin, between the GC1 motorway and Playa del Inglés, in the southern municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The TSJC announced that the Chamber confirms the order of Court number 4 on October 23, 2017 that rejected a request from the collective Turcon-Ecologists in Action to suspend the municipal resolution authorising the initial €2million worth of works carried out by the Tenerife based company Loro Parque.
The channelling of the existing gully in the area over the last six months is now near completion, in order to divert the rainwaters that may run through it,and will allow for the €70 million construction project for what has been billed as the largest water park in Europe to go ahead.
The main sliproad from the GC1 into Playa del Inglés has been closed to facilitate further preparatory works around the old stone cottage, known as The Weed, and reconditioning works along the stretch of GC500 that will also act as an access point to the new water park.
All that remains now is for the final approval for the construction project from the local town hall, but there seems little doubt now that the project will move forward unfettered by objections and claims against it… we will tell you more once we know the final word…
