With just 7 more shopping weekends to the Yule Time fortnight begins in earnest, a lovely November weekend ahead with weather predictions of winter sun and just a few clouds.
There are some big events happening during the weekend such as the return of WOMAD to Las Palmas, the Southeast fair in Arinaga, Maspalomas Rally ( which means road closures ) and free shows in the Yumbo, markets all around the island, and much more besides…
WOMAD
After a five year absence WOMAD, the World of Music, Arts and Dance is back again over the weekend in the capital, Las Palmas . Three days in the surroundings of Parque Santa Catalina; concerts, various activities, markets, workshops, documentaries, short films, ecology and solidarity events on the pedestrian street Luis Morote and then some more concerts. Food and a market on Plaza de las Islas Canarias

14ª Feria del Sureste- Artesanía, Agricultura, Ganadería.
The 14th Southeast fair in Agüimes this weekend. Handicrafts, agriculture, livestock and tourism on Avenida de Ansite in Cruce de Arinaga. This year the Fair will have 114 stands, a small livestock sample,six non profit associations, children’s games and activities in Plaza de La Zafra,
On Friday at 11:00 in Plaza 1º de Mayo the opening ceremony with the mayors of the three municipalities that make up the Commonwealth of the Southeast, Ingenio, Santa Lucía de Tirajana and Agüimes as well as the president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales. The 114 stands will be open until 22:00 and from 21:00 there will be performances on the stage on Plaza 1º de Mayo
On Saturday , stands will be open from 10:00 to 22:00 and various events will be held at night. On Sunday stands open from 10:00-15:00.
10-12 November, shopping center Yumbo, Maspalomas
Winter Maspalomas
Free outdoor evening shows in the legendary yumbo centre in the heart of Playa del Inglés.
On Friday, “The Friday Night Live Show” starting at 20:30. Performers include Stacey Francis, Charlie Healy, Tameka Jackson.
On Saturday, A Walk will start at 16:30 from the RIU Palace Hotel on the Avenida de Tirajana to Yumbo, followed by a 2 hour dance session. In the evening from 20:30 The Saturday Night Live Show, with fireworks and performances from Sonique ft. Damon Hess, Tara McDonald, Cristina Ramos and Soraya Vivian.

44° Rally de Maspalomás y V Gran Canaria Historic Rally ‘Trofeo Naviera Armas’
44th Edition of the Maspalomás Rally, with two of its sections this year passing through the municipality of Mogán.
Remember, when there is a rally, it also means road closures!
On Friday, once the exit ceremony is done, the teams will depart from Maspalomas at 20:20 in the direction of Mogán, where they will drive the first Timed Section (Tramo Cronometrado) TC1: Mogán – La Aldea, starting at 21:00.
The teams will then regroup in the municipality of La Aldea, to dispute the TC2 La Aldea – Mogán at 22:45.

VI Feria de la Salud en la Piel
Two days about skin care and protection, just next to the Auditorium Alfredo Kraus (in front of CC Las Arenas) in Los Jardines del Atlántico
The Skin Health Fair promotes health and skin care and is organized by the city of Las Palmas, Healthy Skin Foundation and the Spanish Association of Dermatology and Venereology. For two days, this year under the motto “Skin is the mirror of your life”, dermatologists will offer information on how to care for and protect our skin.
In parallel there will be an exhibitor area with leisure and recreational activities for the whole family.

The big farmers market in Vecindario, on every other Saturday. Chance to get the freshest produce straight from the farmers.

Saturday in the mountain village of Artenara, the highest village on the island, a farmers and livestock market with performances from folk music group “Aires del Nublo”.

A Walk in the park with Lilly Rikhter
Join Lilly, the Russian personal trainer, in the lovely southern urban park, ‘Parque Sur de Maspalomas‘ for her bespoke, free and fun hour of stretching with light workout.
Starting at 12:00. Bring an exercise mat or towel and water with you.
Any body is welcome, just turn up and join in.
Sunday 12 November, Puerto Rico, Mogán
Farmer’s market and handicrafts
Every fortnight, on a Sunday, surrounded by palm trees and to the sound of typical Canarian music, early in the morning there is a farmers’ and crafts market.
Locally produced fruits and vegetables, cheeses, sweets and so much more.
The market is open from 08:30-14:30
Mercadillo agrícola y artesanal
A lovely day to visit the mountain village of Tejeda, up among the summits (los cumbres) with their farmers and artisans market happening in the morning along with some seasonally roasted sweet chestnuts, entertainment for children and live music performances.
Tejeda, (officially) one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, starts their monthly Sunday market again after the summer break.
From 10:00-15:00 in front of the Municipal Football Field, opposite side from the La Perdiz cafe .
