Throughout the summer months there are several fiestas and festivals worth visiting in the south-western municipality of Mogán. Many of these are religious festivals and others celebrate traditions or produce important to the area, its history and culture.
The original residential area of the Puerto Rico Valley, Motor Grande, is celebrating the local patronal fiestas in honour of Maria Auxiliadora, (Mary the helper of Christians) between 18-25 May 2019. The program of events is organised by the Neighbourhood Association El Valle de Puerto Rico with the collaboration of the town hall.
The program starts this Saturday May 18 with a children’s party featuring inflatables and a mini-disco from 11:00.
In the evening from 20:00, the opening festivities, with the singer Chamaida García and Scala in Hifi in which the children of the neighbourhood will participate and show off their talent.
On Sunday morning 19 there will be a rally simulator competition, water inflatables and a big foam party, starting at 11:00. A bubble gol football championship will be held from 14:00 and, in parallel, a giant paella will be created to feed as many as possible during a daytime festival enlivened by La Quinta Marcha de los Ochenta and Nany Jiménez.
On Monday 20 and a ‘Gaming Party’ with video game competitions and inflatables for the little ones starting at 17:00 to then give way to the musical group Las Afortunadas at 19:00.
On Tuesday, 21, the “Great birthday party for all children” at 16:30 with workshops, face painting, inflatables and a mini disco and then the Sports Schools of Mogán and several sports clubs will hold an exhibition at 19:30. The day will end with the puppet play ‘La Bruja Kui’ at 20:30.
On Wednesday 22 , starting at 17:00 there will be an afternoon of Gymkana with inflatables and animation characters from the Angry Birds theme park. There will also be a bowling alley, archery, basketball and a track with pedal trolleys. At 19:30, the XII Baking Contest will start and later the Teldense comedian Iván El Bastonero will perform.
On Thursday afternoon, it’s all about Inflatables, slides and a large American track that will fill the neighbourhood square, starting at 17:30. The Acedance Dance School and the Ana Vega Ballet will make an exhibition of the work done during the season at 20:00. The session will conclude with the rancheras of Iván Mendoza, presenting his new tour ‘Directo al Corazón’.
On Friday the 24th a mass and procession in Honor of Mary Helper of Christians starts at 19:00 and later at 20:30 A night of Boleros by a music trio “Los Tres Aries”.
The romeria will cause some traffic restrictions on Saturday 25th, on the main road for the duration of the procession.
