A Court in San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria) has agreed to the preventive detention of the alleged author of the fatal traffic accident on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 5, in the Pasito Blanco area, in the south of the island.
The file passed to the court alleges that perpetrator committed a crime serious against public health, and is charged with homicide in relation to a road safety crime and a third charge of attacking a public authority, according to sources in the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC).
The events took place on the afternoon of last Tuesday, on the GC-500 road, near Pasito Blanco, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, where two cars collided head-on and the defendant allegedly fled from the Guardia Civil, this resulted in the death of the driver of the other vehicle, a man of 44 years, for whom emergency health personnel attending could do nothing to help.
However, the accused, 55, was virtually unharmed in the accident, with only mild contusions, which were treated at the Health Centre of Maspalomas.
