26/8/18
A lovely warm summer evening here in Las Palmas, and a great night to watch football. After a good performance last weekend , the home fans hope we can get another win and remain top of the league.
The match starts with bit of early pressure from the away team but LP produce the first shot of the match however Tana’s effort is high and wide.
On 8mins ball played into the box by LP to Castro but he was stretching for it and the keeper makes the save.
On 11mins, Castro again goes close with a good shot. From the corner, the ball gets played into the box and it looks like hand ball but the ref waves it away though LP appeals.
More pressure by the home team but the final ball is poor.
On 22mins, another chance falls to Castro but he hits his shot straight at the keeper.
Las Palmas are having plenty of the ball but just need to find that killer pass.
On 44mins the ball is played into the box, The Albacete keeper comes to punch the ball, but his weak punch goes straight to Castro who places his shot in the bottom corner. 1-0 !!!! Great time to score, right on half time.
Half Time – Las Palmas 1 Albacete 0
The Verdict of The Saint – great time to score, Las Palmas have had plenty of good possession but just can’t find the killer pass. The lively Castro could have had a couple before he got his goal.
3 goals in 2 games and he looks like a great signing. Lets hope we go on to get another like last Sunday.
A good chance for the away side on 55mins but saved by Raul.
On 66mins that man again, Castro gets through on the right side of the box and his shot goes crashing against the bar. Unlucky there.
On 71mins, another chance for the visitors, their centre forward slides the ball under Raul in the home goal but Garcia is on hand to clear it away.
More pressure from the visitors, Las Palmas need to get hold of the ball to take away some of this pressure. We need a another goal like on Sunday to kill this game off.
A lucky escape on 81mins, a cross by the visitors and a header comes off the bar. Then a min later Albacete are level, Raul beaten at this near post, David Garcia , playing his 454th match, making him the most capped player for LP, deflects the ball past his keeper. 1-1.
A min later LP should have regained the lead. Sacko on loan from Leeds, gets clear on the left side, but with only the keeper to beat puts his shot just wide , when he should have scored. No more real chances for either side and the game finishes in a draw.
Full Time – Las Palmas 1 Albacete 1
The Saint’s Verdict – a very disappointing end to the game. 2 points dropped. Like I keep saying, they needed to get that 2nd goal and then kill the game. They let Albacete back in when if they took there chances, especially in the first half, LP would have picked up another 3pts. The 12,484 fans will go home very disappointed.
Next Home match – Friday 7th September – Gimnàstic Tarragona KO 19.00
