Well it is the last home game of the season and for once, a lovely warm day in the capital. Only a tiny crowd with most preferring the beach and a cool drink rather than a mid table nothing match.
A good start from the away team and the ball is straight in the net but disallowed due to a foul on Garcia.
In the eighth minute a good break by LP and Castro shoots just wide.
22 mins in and LP have one in the net but again disallowed, this time for a foul by Castro.
30th minute and the best move of the game so far, some good one-touch passing sets Castro up but he is denied by an excellent save.
And a minute later the same man again, Castro, see’s his shot hit the post. On any other day, he could have had a hat trick already!
Half Time – Las Palmas 0 Almeria 0
Some great chances for the home side and on a different day they could have been 2 or 3 up.
The lively Castro has been unlucky.
Almeria had one chance in the first few mins but haven’t put LP under any pressure.
Let’s hope LP can take their chances in the 2nd half and finish the season on a high.
In the 50th minute another great chance for LP, some really good passing sets up Mono in the box, who crosses but somehow the Almeria defence manage to clear the ball.
62 minutes in and another good chance for Almeria, strong move down the right wing and then a cross but saved with a good block by Martinez in the home goal.
Another five minutes or so elapse until the long serving Mono gets taken off, the way he went around shaking hands and taking the fans applause, this could be his last game.
Injury time and Lemos goes close – cuts in from the right with his diagonal shot crossing the goal just whizzing by the far post.
The Verdict of The Saint – surprise surprise! Another goalless draw.
So that’s the 18/19 season at home finished. To sum the season up – great start then far too many draws, so many games ahead but couldn’t kill the game off and not enough creative play in midfield.
The squad looks weak but with no investment, I can’t see things changing much next season. Another poor crowd, fans unfortunately will stay away until the team starts winning again. Lets hope we can bring in some new faces and get the team back into La Liga where the fans deserve to see them play. PIO PIO
