Mid January and the almond trees are in full blossom all across the mountains, from Valsequillo to Tunte, Ayacata to Tejeda; and so Carnival season is fast approaching. The weather predictions look a little unstable for the weekend on Gran Canaria, with wintry showers to the north and colder than usual night time temperatures, so some outdoor events could be cancelled, and you will certainly want to wrap up warm, though the south of the island should remain mainly sunny and still a perfect excuse to go find a weekend event to get involved with, whether it be a beer tasting, hill walking, an organic market or two, music in the park, a bike fair, some good old fashioned live music. Remember too that the sales are all in full swing so its good time to get those bargains and get set for next Christmas…!
