The last weekend of the year and the weather forecasters keep offering good news as we move toward sub tropical winter bliss. There are many seasonal events going on over the weekend ahead and here are just some of our hand picked local and island happenings to end the year 2018.


28-30 DECEMBER, MOGÁN
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM – MOGÁN TOWN HALL

The Mogán Christmas program, like so many others around the island, runs to January 5 and includes various activities and events spread across virtually all neighbourhoods in the municipality. So Arguineguín, Mogán, Motor Grande, Las Filipinas, Barranquillo Andrés, El Horno, Veneguera and Playa de Mogán will all enjoy events aimed at the whole family and especially for the smallest in the family.

On Friday in Arguineguín at Plaza Pérez Galdós a theatre performance of “the brave little tailor” at 18:00

In Mogán Casco (Pueblo de Mogán) a night to be enjoyed with Artisans, gastronomy and a second hand fair happening, at 19:30. There is also to be a Wine and Tapas route. a games party for the little ones in the family, sporty games and music concerts to enliven the night.

On Saturday, an event aimed at children and family in Arguineguin at Plaza Pérez Galdós from 17:00-21:00.
In Playa de Mogán there is a concert by the outstanding “Rainbow Gospel choir” at 21:00 at Plaza Dr. Pedro Betancor León.


28-30 DECEMBER, MASPALOMAS 
CHRISTMAS IN THE SUN 

Christmas in the sun – children and family oriented event in Parque Sur Maspalomas.

Inflatables, workshops and entertainment from 10:00-21:00 over the weekend. On Friday 28.12 the fun starts at 17:00.

The last weekend for the “Christmas in the Sun” event program is 4-6 of January 2019 .

FRIDAY 28 DECEMBER, GÁLDAR
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM – GÁLDAR TOWN HALL

As part of the town hall Christmas program, on Friday at 19:30 on the Streets of Gáldar, there will be a children’s parade with the participation of bands of music, jugglers, various characters, and festive floats

And at 20:30 at Plaza de Santiago, there is a Christmas Concert by the Rainbow Gospel Choir.


FRIDAY 28 DECEMBER, EL TABLERO, SAN BARTOLOME
TABLERO PRE FIN DE AÑO

Tablero starts celebrating New Year early with a pre party on Friday.

The lovely southern neighbourhood on the other side of GC-1 from the main tourism zone celebrates a new yew year party early with from 20:30-01:30 at Plaza de El Tablero, just in front of the main church.

 

 


SATURDAY 29 DECEMBER, TEROR
FIN DE AÑO INFANTIL

As part of the town hall Christmas program, the beautiful mountain town of Teror celebrates on Saturday their children’s End of Year festivities.

There is a Zapito Clown show at 13:00 on Plaza de Sintes.

An inaugural parade with the band Asampa, Disney characters and the page boys of the Three Kings.

Departure for the parade is from the Paseo González Díaz at 17:00.

There will be many activities on offer at Plaza de Sintes starting at 18:00 including  inflatables, workshops, threads, cotton candy, mechanical bull, games, etc. Magical musical chimes, pyro, cotillion, sweets luck, music and firework same place at 21:00.


29-30 DECEMBER, ANFI DEL MAR, MOGÁN
BEACH VOLLEYBALL

The IVth edition of the International 3×3 beach volley ball tournament is played on Anfi del Mar beach.

On Saturday the female  and male categories and

on Sunday mixed.

 


UNTIL 4 JANUARY 2019, INFECAR, LAS PALMAS
PLANETA GRAN CANARIA

The 20th Children’s Festival, promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by INFECAR. An outstanding fair with a multitude of different activities for children of all ages.

At the fair you can find among many other things an ecological ice skating rink of 50 square meters (one of the star attractions) and a medieval castle made with more than 320,000 small pieces, workshops, theatre, mazes, inflatables, puppets, fair attractions, bicycle circuits, video games and virtual reality workshops and games, as well as activities as diverse as the making of coloured salt cans or the practice of aquaponics, a workshop of urban gardens where the children learn to plant seeds of flowers, strawberries or parsley in biodegradable coconut pots and discover the necessary care to grow anywhere.

Outside of Infecar the fun continues with various jumping attractions, a pool to navigate boats in,  a merry-go-round, in addition to gastronomic delicacies on offer for you to enjoy some new food outdoors. A perfect time to spend with the little ones the family until 4th of January.

Entry fee : €4 and if you bring 1 kg of non perishable food you will get free entry for your next visit.
Opening hours : 10:00-20:30, except January 1 from 16:00-20:30 (December 31 closed)


UNTIL 5.1. VECINDARIO, SANTA LUCIA 
FERIA DE ARTESANIA 

A total of 44 artisans and four NGOs (non profit organisations) who carry out their work in the municipality have confirmed their attendance at the Craft Fair, which has been installed in the pedestrian area of Avenida de Canarias, starting from Thursday December 20th until the night of the eve of Kings Day (Reyes). This market forms part of the revitalisation campaign ‘Santa Lucia is Christmas’, aimed at promoting and enhancing local trade and family leisure. Craftspeople working with palm and ceramics, wicker, costume jewellery, miniatures, wooden toys, cloth and felt dolls, modelling, glass, tiles and cutlery, among other materials, display just some of the items on offer.

Opening hours for the  Fair is 10:00-21:00, except December 25 and January 1,  when the fair will be only open until noon. The night of the eve of Kings Day the fair will remain open until the closing of the main shops.


 UNTIL 8 JANUARY, LAS PALMAS 
THE SAND NATIVITY SCENE –
LAS CANTERAS BEACH

The Belén de Arena in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on Las Canteras Beach (at the end of La Puntilla), is one of the main Christmas references for the city and the island.  To visit is free for the public, although donations are requested each year for charitable purposes.

The Bethlehem of Sand can be visited until January 8.
Sunday to Friday, from 9:00-22:00. 
Saturdays, from 9:00-23:00 
Special days 24/12, 31/12 and 5/1 from 9:00-20:00
