FRONTON KING FESTIVAL
The international bodyboard championship that has been held every year, on what is considered one of the best waves in all the world: El Frontón, in the Municipality of Gáldar runs for two weeks starting 20th October through to 3rd November… But just before, as ever, there will be time for some festivities…

19-21 OCTOBER, SANTA LUCIA
FIESTAS PATRONALES SAN RAFAEL, VECINDARIO
Patron Saint festivities in Vecindario, in honour of San Rafael, from 19-28 October.
On Friday the festivities start with a promotional street procession for the events to come, along Avenida de Canarias, and at 21:00 the traditional Pregón, the opening proclamation for the patronal festivities.
On Saturday, Artisans Fair in the pedestrian area from 10:00-22:00. There is also a foam party at 12:00 at Plaza de San Rafael. A concert by two Canarian traditional music groups at 18:00 at Plaza de Los Algodoneros and at 21:00 Encuentro de solistas, and another concert “meeting of the soloist”
On Sunday, the artisans fair opens again at 10:00 as well as an exhibition of old and classic cars, both along the main pedestrian area.
21-23 OCTOBER, LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA
FIESTAS DE LA NAVAL
In La Isleta, celebrations are held every October to honour Our Lady of La Luz, patron of the Port and protector of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The festivities commemorate the island victory over the ill feted attack from the British admirals Francis Drake and John Hawkins in October 1595. This weekend marks the last days of the festivities. On Friday : A performance from the Symphonic band of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, starting at 20:00 in the Gardens of the Castillo de la Luz. At the same time at 20:00 a night of folklore in the Plaza de La Luz.
On Saturday, from 10:00 Artisanal Market (Plaza del Diputado Eduardo Suárez Morales, Tenerife, paseo de Las Canteras)
ROMERIA, the pilgrimage offering starts at 18:00 and travels the route : Luis Morote, General Vives, Sagasta, Tenerife, Albareda, Juan Rejón and ends at Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Luz and after at 23:00 CANARIAN FIESTA AND TAIFAS DANCE at Plaza de Ntra. Sra. La Luz.
On Sunday, a concert at 13:00 in Plaza de la Luz by “Los Aseres”. Later in the evening, a religious event, starting at 18:00 with a solemn eucharist at the church and at 19:00 Magna procession de la octava de la Naval. The procession of the venerated image of Señora de la Luz, (Our Lady of the light) the patron saint of the port, to which she gives her name. The procession takes the following route: Calles Pérez Muñoz, Juan Rejón, Albareda, Gran Canaria, Sagasta, Gomera, Paseo de Las Canteras, plaza de Saulo Torón, Paseo de las Canteras, La Naval and Pérez Muñoz (church)
At Plaza de Saulo Torón there will be a fireworks show to end the festivities.
19-20 OCTOBER, LAS PALMAS
LA PASARELA CARNAVAL FASHION WORLD
The Carnival Fashion World celebrates its ninth edition incorporating an exhibition of thematic designs and Carnival workshops, in the Miller Building. During the weekend there will be a Carnival fashion exhibition at Santa Catalina Park.
60 creations on both nights, October 19 and 20, at 21:00.
20-21 OCTOBER, MASPALOMAS
MASPALOMAS PET FAIR
The 3rd edition of the much anticipated Maspalomas Pet Fair is happening this Saturday and Sunday in the beautiful surroundings of Parque Sur de Maspalomas. New additions this year to the fair include a “Belcando Pool party”, a pool for our 4-legged friends to have a great time and be cool.

11:00 Inauguration by the Mayor will be further enlivened by the Agaete Music band and several Star Wars characters (!).

11:30 “Balcando dog race“, a race for your 4-legged friend in different categories around a circuit inside the park
12:00 “Belcando Pretty dog”, a contest with popular jury for all kinds of dogs with or without pedigree where what is judged is more than just exterior beauty.

SATURDAY 20 OCTOBER, ARUCAS
EL MERCADO AGRÍCOLA Y GANADERO DE ARUCAS
The Agricultural and Livestock Market of Arucas began in June 2008, at the initiative of the Coag (Coordinators of Organizations of Farmers and Cattle Ranchers) and the Federation of Cattlemen of Gran Canaria (Fedegran), later moving to the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, institution in charge of organisation at present.
This market takes place every fifteen days in the facilities of the Cabildo Agricultural Farm, located next to the main exit for Arucas from GC-2, on the north coast of Gran Canaria. The market comprises some 65 exhibitors (farmers and ranchers) who market their produce directly to the consumer, with the aim of lowering the costs added by intermediaries. From 09:00 – 14:30
SUNDAY 21 OCTOBER, SAN FERNANDO

The second hand flea market takes place in the surroundings of the southern town hall every Sunday, with a lot of great bargains to be found.
This Sunday, like every second sunday there is a farmers market too.
