FIMAR The International Fair of the Sea Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, continues throughout the weekend on the Plaza de Canarias and surrounding areas until Sunday. This 9th edition of the fair has firmly established itself as the primary professional, sports and leisure event for the nautical and marine-maritime sector of the Canary Islands.

In addition to the usual space of the Plaza de Canarias and the Santa Catalina Pier, FIMAR 2019 will also have events in INFECAR, the Federación de Vela Latina Canaria, Femepa and the university campus of Tafira.

On this occasion, the Fair will pay tribute to the Vela Latina Canaria, coinciding with the 115th anniversary of the first sailing regatta held in the bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1904.

Exhibition weekend

The International Fair of the Sea, FIMAR 2019, promoted jointly by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Port Authority of Las Palmas offers the opportunity for visitors to see first-hand the latest developments in the marine and maritime sector, as well as everything related to the blue economy, working hand in hand with the exhibitors who come together again for another year at the Plaza de Canarias.

In addition the Vela Latina Canaria will be represented at FIMAR with a sailing regatta and demonstration sessions at the great nautical parade. In addition to the boats in the capital, a vessel commemorating the centenary of César Manrique, a ship from Lanzarote will be a special guest.

FIMAR also has children’s workshops, gymkhanas associated with maritime activities, explanatory excursions to the replica of ship on which Columbus stopped in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; La Niña and there will be musical performances.

On Sunday there will be a nautical parade, including lots of different water craft as well as there being free visits to the Port via the main tourist sightseeing buses, and free regular guided tours offered to the first 10,000 people attending.

The fair is open until Sunday from 10:30 to 16:00.


There will be plenty of food on offer with a special gastronomy route offered by various top local restaurants.
