23/9/18

Really looking forward to this game as both teams are unbeaten but Malaga having won all 5 games and are top of the league with LP in 2nd. Hope the weather won’t spoil it as at kickoff, it’s 87f !! (that’s 30.5ºC in new money)

2mins in and Malaga have a 1/2 chance but a good save by Raul in the home goal.

Another chance for the away side follows 10mins in with a long range free kick but again a good save.

LP’s first attempt on 14min but the long range shot is well over.

More good play by the home side and a dangerous cross wins a corner. From the corner which is worked short , Tana gets clear and goes down in the box but nothing given by the ref. That wakes the home crowd up!!

Another chance for LP but this time, offside is given.

26mins and a good chance for LP from a free kick near the corner flag but Danny Blum heads it over when he should of hit the target.

No real chances after that for either side as the first half ends.

Half Time – Las Palmas 0 Malaga 0

The Saint’s HT Verdict – Malaga look the livelier side and started the game well but midway through the first half, LP came back into the match and created some good chances. The home side look dangerous at set pieces and were unlucky not to be ahead at half time. They need to continue to keep it tight at the back and hopefully manage to create a goalscoring chance.

1/2 a chance for Castro on 55mins but just over from a tight angle.

On 60mins a good run and shot By Blum but just wide

In the 74th min LP play the ball into the box, picked up by Rafa Mir, who takes a good first touch and hits his shot into the bottom left hand corner. 1-0 LP.

Malaga are putting the pressure on now as LP are dropping back deeper.

87mins Malaga win a free kick in a dangerous position. But the ball is headed over.

LP have trained their ball boys very well here tonight, as they are in no hurry to return the ball when it goes out of play!!!!

4mins of injury time – can they hang on! The answer is yes and for a great win by the home side.

Full Time : Las Palmas 1 Malaga 0

The Verdict of The Saint – a close game but Las Palmas took their chance well with a great turn and shoot by Mir. The home side defended very well and Raul looked solid in the home goal. It was great to see the stadium looking a lot more full with a 21,350 crowd with 53 brave Malaga fans ( I counted them )

The home fans created a great atmosphere in the 2nd half and now are hoping we can continue this good form and remain in the top 2 places. PIO PIO

Next home match – Alcorcón.
6th October 19.30 KO.
