Las Palmas host 3rd-from-bottom Nástic looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season but looking to get 3 points tonight rather than another draw.

A slow start to the game, with both sides passing sound in midfield.

LP win the first corner after just 11mins.

On 26 mins a good move down the left from the home side finally getting in behind the Nástic defence but the cross is cleared for a corner.

28 mins and the stadium wakes up. A long ball over the top and Castro is in, he collides with the big centre half and the ref gives a red card for the tackle. 1 hour left to go with 10 men, LP need to make this count now.

33mins and LP have their first shot on target but it’s easily saved.

In the 44th minute Castro finally finds space inside the box and plants his shot into the bottom corner making it 1-0 to LP.

Half Time – Las Palmas 1 Nástic 0

The Verdict of the Saint – a very slow first half which only came to life after the sending off , which seemed harsh on the defender. Castro scores his 4th goal of the season with another great finish. Now they must go on and make the extra man count and get another.

The 2nd half begins but LP are still not taking the game to Nástic. Keeping the ball in their possession, but way too many sideways passes.

Ten minutes into the 2nd half, after good build up play, the ball falls to Timor in the edge of the box, his shot takes a big deflection and the ball ends up in the back of the net. 2-0 Las Palmas !!!

61mins gone and the former Saint, Pekhart, comes on!!! (though he only made 6 appearances for the saints and scored 1 goal)

2mins later and the best goal of the night so far. A quick break down the right wing, a good cross into the centre where Castro meets it with a diving header and makes it 3-0.

The best goal so far, but number 4 was even better. The ball falls to Lemos on the edge of the box, he hits a perfect shot into the top corner! 4-0.

The home side keep the pressure up and have a couple of 1/2 chances but can’t score another.

Full Time – Las Palmas 4 Nastic 0

The Saint’s Verdict – Las Palmas finally killed off a game with a very convincing win. The 2nd half started slowly but once we got the 2nd goal the team relaxed and took control and scored a couple of excellent goals.

They now move up to 3rd in the league and remain unbeaten. Ruben Castro is still a class act, wish we’d had him last season!!! If we can keep him fit, signs are looking good for this season.
