A splendid spring weekend ahead and the weather forecast looks good to visit and explore many of the wonderful events happening around the Island. Here are our just some of our top picks for the upcoming weekend.


13-15 April, Las Palmas 
LPA Motown Sagulpa – Feria de la moto y movilidad urbana sostenible

From Friday to Sunday, the 4th Edition of LPA Motown Sagulpa, a Motorcycle and Sustainable Urban Mobility Fair, is hosted in the Miller Building and Santa Catalina Park.

Schedule: On Friday 11:00-21:00, On Saturday 10:00-21:00, On Sunday 10:00-16:00

Concerts : Friday at 21:00  “Plan B” and on Saturday at 21.00 “Los Lolas”.

A weekend for the whole family, with activities for all ages, including concerts, exhibitions and displays of electric vehicles, motorcycles, accessories, a pedal kart circuit for the kids, a classic motorcycle exhibition in the Miller building, a custom bicycle exhibition in the Museo Elder, and everything else in connection to the sector focused on two or more wheels.


13-15 April, Teror
Feria de Saldos 

Teror is the ideal historic town to visit this weekend and find produce at reduced prices during the “Discount and Opportunities fair”, an initiative that brings together a score of companies that will offer their end of stock for the closing season in a 3,000 square metre space. This 13th event, organised by the Association of Employers of Teror and the town hall, is funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria with the aim of boosting the Open Commercial Zone.

The Fair will take place in the municipal car parks, next to the main bus station, and offers bargains to be found including costume jewellery, fashion, footwear, accessories, books, furniture and decoration, as well as hospitality and household goods, optics, gifts, home, sports and household appliances, among many other gastronomy products to delight the palate between bargaining, such as sweets and cheese.

Hours : Friday and Saturday from 10:00 to 21:00 and on Sunday 10:00 to 16:00


Saturday 14 April, Artenara
Mercado Agrícola y Ganadero

Artenara, the highest village on Gran Canaria and also one of the oldest, are having their Agricultural market on Saturday in the surroundings of Plaza de San Matias from 11:00 to 15:00.

This beautiful mountainside village is located at an altitude of 1270 m (4167 ft), and is famous for its Christ statue with widespread arms, reminiscent of the famous Rio de Janeiro figure welcoming  visitors.

 

 


Saturday 14 April, Arucas
Big Bang Vintage Market Arucas

If you like Rock and Roll, collectibles, antiques, swing dance, fashion and the culture of the 40s and 50s, Arucas is the place to be and more specifically Plaza de la Constitución and Calle León y Castillo.

An event from 11:00 to 20:00 for the whole family with concerts, djs, a vintage flea market, children’s shows, swing dance workshops and a 50’s fashion workshop.

At 11:00 – An Inauguration of the Vintage Market,  Children’s show with Rafaelillo Clown Cabaret in La Tournée de LArt, BeBoop Dj session

Saturday 14 April, El Pajar, San Bartolome de Tirajana
Fiesta de Santa Águeda – Cumpleaños de todos los niños

As part of the on going festivities of Santa Águeda, the little neighborhood of El Pajar, just next to Arguineguin is having a party for all the kids on Saturday, starting at 17:00. Bouncy castles, cake and activities at Plaza Pública de El Pajar


Saturday 14 April, Las Palmas
Monopol Music Festival

On Saturday evening, the closing event of the Monopol Music Festival, a night that promises to be memorable. A free outdoor concert in Las Palmas at Plaza de Santa Ana and with all the comforts of a good music festival with drinks, Special Amstel Dorada beer and Food Trails.

The evening starts at 20:00 and will include the performances of Rufus T. Firefly, Digital 21, Joana Serrat & The Gat Canons, Nimañana and DJ Sergio Palmer among others…


Saturday 14 April, Las Palmas
Musicando

Boleros, fado and traditional Canarian music come together from every weekend until June 2 in this the third year of the Musicando program.

This Saturday evening its “Vocal Siete” performing at the auditorium of Parque Doramas, starting at 21:00, with a free outdoor concert in Las Palmas.

Vocal Siete are a lovely male music group, whose repertoire is performed a capella, interpreting with their voices (and their noses!!) the sounds of bass, percussion, trumpets, pianos or guitars, among various instruments.

 


Sunday 15 April, Maspalomas
Holi Maspalomas – Fiesta De Colores

Holi, a hindi spring festival and the festival of colours are celebrated also in Maspalomas by the hindustani community in the south Gran Canaria.

On Sunday at the Mercadillo San Fernando between 12:00-18:00, a festival of colours with a lot of fun, music, colours (ecological) and of course Indian food.

Bura na maro holi hai!

Other events planned during the weekend :

12-15 April, San Bartolome de Tirajana : The 6th edition of Copa Rodagon. Over 1000 young footballers taking part in the games played in different fields in the area. This also means some traffic restrictions; closing the streets in Parque Sur on Thursday and access to the Maspalomas sport complex over the weekend.

Saturday 14 April, Santa Lucia : “The Day of the Neighbor” , an event that takes place in the municipality as a tribute to the role played by the neighborhood movement in the history of Santa Lucia, this year to highlight the role played by the union and the spirit of the neighbours in the construction of a distinguished society for the promotion of the practice of sport and the promotion of healthy habits, which has made it a European City of Sport 2018. With more than twenty free activities and for all, will fill the pedestrian zone and Plaza de Los Algodoneros from 17:00 to 22:00.  Inflatables, sports tournaments, photo exhibitions, chess, health area with a blood pressure and blood glucose service, wheelchair basketball and canary wrestling exhibitions, workshop, charity running race and the day closes by a concert by the music group Última Llave.

Saturday 14 April, Gran Canaria : The First edition of Sky Gran Canaria, a mountain race that features three distances: 72km, 36km and 18km.                Start for the main race ULTRASKY AM72 (max. 19hrs) is from Agaete at 5am and the finish line Playa de Mogán, crossing the municipalities of Artenara, Tejeda, Vega de San Mateo and San Bartolomé de Tirajana.  TRAILSKY TM36 (max. 10hrs) from Tunte to Playa de Mogán at 08:30 and MINISKY SM18 (max. 5hrs) from Soria to Playa de Mogán at 09:30.

Sunday 15 April, Mogán: The Junior Challenge and the Women’s Triathlon sport event at Las Marañuelas beach, in Arguineguín , starting at 11:00 with the children’s event and 12:30-13:00 Womens Triathlon. Parking and circulation restrictions from 07:00 until the event is finished.

When there is a sporting event going on, it will also mean major street closures and parking restrictions in the area.
