A foreign man, thought to be British, is being sought by police after a woman was found dead at a house in the Gran Canaria town of Tauro, in what is being treated as a case of gender violence.

The Civil Guard report that at 10.15 am on Sunday they became aware of the possible homicide after a person, known to the woman, turned up at the Guardia Civil Main Post in Puerto Rico-Mogán informing them that she had seen the woman’s body in the pool area of the holiday villa.

Several agents went to the address (a holiday rental villa with a pool) and confirmed the facts.

Police have spent the day collecting witness statements, leading them to believe that the woman had argued with her partner the previous night in the house.

The Civil Guard are looking for the victim’s partner, who reportedly fled the house. He is believed to be a foreign man, possibly British, who lives here in the Canary Islands, as did the deceased victim.
