It’s Black Friday weekend ahead, so lets see if we are going to get any black skies as well. Switching on the Christmas lights has already started and will continue in different places around the island over the next week or two.

Massive discounts are on offer this Friday in many shops, shopping centers and chain stores. There’s double wine night going on, a major tourism fair, rally, a vintage fair, and then some. The new shopping center Alisios has opened its doors so its a good opportunity to check that out too.


20-25 November, Triana, Las Palmas 

Canarias Shopping Cool

The open commercial zone, Triana hosts the Second Edition of the “Canarias Shopping Cool”- event.
The project, which is itinerant, aims to boost the Open Commercial Zones of the Canary Islands towns and cities with the greatest commercial affluence. This event, held annually, celebrated its first edition in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with great participation from merchants, and a good response from consumers.

This time it pitches up in the Triana area of ​​the capital of Gran Canaria, prior to Christmas shopping.

With the participation of the School of Art and Superior Design of Gran Canaria. There will be training workshops aimed at the business sector. Mini footbridges at street level. Children’s entertainment, musical performances, a photo contest and other surprises. A program designed for the whole family to enjoy and buy in the Open Commercial Zone

On Friday at the Plaza de Hurtado in Mendoza “las Ranas”, the musical group “los 600”  with the best music of the 70s, 80 and 90.

24-26 November, Villa Ingenio

fiestas en honor a San Andrés

The coastal neighborhood of El Burrero is celebrating their festivities in honor of San Andrés this weekend. The events will take place in the Civic Center of El Burrero and its surroundings.

Festivities start on Friday, with a zanga (traditional card game) tournament at 19:00 and a hi-fi ( karaoke style rehearsed performances) at 20:00.

On Saturday, the great paella at 13:30 and in the afternoon, the zanga tournament continues, and at 19:00 continues with a popular festival at 22:00

The action will come to an end on Sunday with bouncy castles and children’s games from 12:00 to 15:00.

The mass and procession in honor of San Andrés will be celebrated from 12:30. The image of the saint will cross through the streets: Josefina de la Torre, Alcalde Ramírez Bethencourt, crossing of  C/ Pescador Gregorito, crossing C/ Tomás Arroyo Cardoso, crossing of the C/ Josefina de la Torre, crossing of the C/ La Corsa  in the direction of Centro Cívico.


24-26 November, Santa Lucia de Tirajana

XI Gran Canaria Media Maratón Memorial Alcalde Camilo Sánchez

Santa Lucia is all about sport this weekend with their XI Mayor Camilo Sánchez Memorial Gran Canaria Half Marathon. A Popular Urban Walk and the Fruit Festival open the program this Friday.

Three days of sports, leisure and solidarity with more that 3,500 people in all competing or participating in the tests and parallel activities. More than 1,300 athletes in the 5 & 10.5 km and 527 in the main race of 21km, increasing this year’s participation.

On Friday, at 17.30,  the popular walk (over 500 people participating) with start and finish at Plaza de Los Algodoneros, next to the pedestrian zone of the Avenida de Canarias. a concert in the same place in the evening.

On Saturday starts at 10.00, the charity race with dogs, in the pedestrian area and in which more than 100 participants donate pet food as registration for the test, which will be delivered to the Island’s main dog pound. At 16:30 children’s races.

On Sunday, the main test of 21 kilometers, along with those of 5km and 10.5km, starting at  9.30. Start and finish line in the Karpa Sports Pavilion, in front of the Municipal Offices. At the end of the race, around 12.30, the environment of the pavilion also hosts a concert of Los Coquillos, in addition to different food and beverage stands.


Friday  24 November, Santa Brigida

On Friday, Calle Nueva de Santa Brígida will become the great showcase of wines and gastronomy with the performances of two music groups, an event that will start 20:30.


Saturday 25 November, Mogan

Garden center Viveros Mogán, just next to the exit to Puerto Mogán on the old GC-500, are holding at their facilities an International Open Day on Saturday from 11:00-14:30.

Saturday 25 November, Moya 

XII Clásica Villa de Moya – Trofeo Agaete de Históricos

The 7th test will be driven on Saturday, with a total of 206,397 km, of which 190,638 kilometers are regular. On Friday evening ( 18-21), administrative and technical checks will be carried out at Bar La Costa in El Pagador de Moya.

The first vehicle will start at 10:00 and the first leg will end at 12:35 in the Parque Pico Lomito de Moya.

At 12:55 the test will resume with a second section with the end of the Restaurante Síbora de Fontanales .

At 16:00 the last section to the Pico Lomito de Moya Park, where the first vehicle will arrive at 17:55 where also will take place the final regrouping, publication of results and the delivery of trophies.

And when there is a rally going on, it also mean road closures

Farmer’s market and handicrafts

Every fortnight, on a Sunday, in an ideal setting surrounded by palm trees and to the sound of typical Canarian music, early in the morning there is a farmers and crafts market.

Locally grown fruits and vegetables, cheese, sweets and so much more. This weekend also  the new market season starts, so there are tastings of typical Canarian delights.

The market is open from 08:30-14:30
