It’s a busy November weekend ahead, the forecast looks promising with lovely winter weather (highs in the mid 20s) expected.
Many events are going on around the island. There is a 3-day Vintage Festival in San Fernando, Telde is celebrating their patron saint festivities so Friday is also a local holiday in the municipality. Flavours of the world- offers top nosh in the heart of Playa del Inglés on Friday, Valsequillo are showing off their best with a local business fair on Sunday and the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers sets off towards the warm waters of the Caribbean on Sunday morning from Las Palmas in a spectacle of sail.

Rockin’ Doo Wop, Gran Canaria Festival Winter Edition

The golden years of the 40s & 50s are being celebrated in a Vintage Culture Festival in Parque de San Fernando, just next to the parish church. Free entrance, three days, 11 concerts by local and international music groups, DJ’s, a Vintage Market, Burlesque Show, Dance Workshops, Foodtrucks, a children´s area and all with an ambiance of solidarity helping CODECAN, the Cooperation and Development Association of Canary Islands and Africa (Cooperacion y Desarollo Canarias Africa)

The highly anticipated second edition of Flavours of the world on Friday in Parque Europea starting at 19:00 until midnight.  Lots of amazing food around the world, wines, drinks and live concerts to enliven the evening in the heart of Playa del Inglés.

17-18 November, Telde 

Fiestas en honor de San Gregorio

The neighborhood of Los Llanos in Telde, with their on going (2 month) festivities of San Gregorio. Friday (a local holiday as well) is the main day of festivities and the day includes a street procession with the image of San Gregorio Taumaturgo at 19:00.

10:00 – 20:00 Handicraft fair -in collaboration with the Fedac
Stick fight exhibition at 10:30, Taekwondo exhibition at11:30 and at 12:00 Canarian wrestling (Lucha de Canaria)

In Plaza de San Gregorio :  12:00 a concert from the Municipal Band of Music, 13:00 a cattle parade, 14:00 the tasting of the Canarian stew (potaje),  21:00 live music.

On Saturday, the open shopping area will host multiple activities aimed at children, such as bowling, karts, workshops, makeup and traditional games. 11:00-14:00 and 17:00-20:30

17-18 November, Agüimes

Casa de Terror – Agüimes

Still feeling the halloween vibe? Last chance to experience the “house of Terror”, a lovely activity organised by The Department of Youth  of Agüimes.  The House of Terror will open its doors just twice more at the Municipal Theater on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 November, in passes from 19:00 to 22:00
Tickets, just €2, can be purchased from the theatre box office.  This year with the theme “Fear, shadows and action”, again with the collaboration of a volunteer team consisting of 50 young people from the municipality of Agüimes.


Saturday 18 November, La Aldea de San Nicolás

Noche de Vinos – La Aldea 

La Aldea,  ( the westernmost municipality on the island) is having a wine and tapas night on Saturday with live music. On Calle Real from 19:00 to midnight.

Make it a Day trip and stop in Cactualdea, a Cactus Theme Park, Europe’s largest cactus park with over 1,200 different species of cactus.

There is also a wine cellar & a souvenir shop. Open every day from 10:00-17:00.


Saturday 18 November, Arucas

Mercado Agricola

The Cabildo’s farmers market, like every other weekend is this time in Arucas at experimental agricultural farm.

Products straight from the producers. Market is from 09:00-13:00


Saturday 18 November, Puerto de Mogan 

Concert by Germán López

On Saturday evening, enjoy the music of Germán López in Puerto de Mogán’s bandstand. The concert is free and will begin at 20:30

 


Sunday 19 November, Valsequillo

X Feria Empresarial 

The urban centre of rural Valsequillo will be filled with products from local businesses in the 10th Business Fair, an initiative that every year brings together hundreds of residents and visitors around the exhibitors and the multiple activities organised.

The day includes at 11:30 a children’s parade in the pedestrian area, bouncy castles and children’s workshops,  musical performances for all ages,  gastronomic tastings of local produce, scheduled for 14:00 and organised by the Association of Friends of Tenteniguada, which will have a selection of the very best and most characteristic agricultural products of the municipality.


Sunday 19 November, Maspalomas 

Renault Street Run Maspalomas

Urban running competition happening this Sunday from 10:00-14:00.

The Sixth Renault Street Circuit Run in Maspalomas, with two distance: 5 or 10k and a route that crosses the most emblematic parts of the southern tourist zone.


Sunday 19 November, Las Palmas 

ARC 2017 

The ARC, Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, is a ‘must do’ for many sailors, and attracts over 200 boats and 1200 people every year to sail 2700 NM across the Atlantic from Gran Canaria to Saint Lucia in the Caribbean.

On Sunday, boats will set sail from Muelle Deportivo for the 32nd edition of the ARC. The best spot on shore to watch this superb spectacle is from the seafront promenade (Avenida Marítima) in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
