Yellow Advisory for strong seas and winds

The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) have issued a yellow advisory for the archipelago due to strong winds and coastal phenomena expected this Thursday, 18, and Friday, the 19th of May.

The AEMET yellow advisory is set to be active from 8 am on Thursday until 8 pm on Friday, and reports the probability of these weather phenomena to be between 40 and 70 percent, with northeasterly winds expected to affect mainly the northwest and southeast of the Canary Islands and inland areas. Some very strong occasionl gusts could even be above 70 kilometers per hour.

In particular, Gran Canaria can expect strong winds on coastal slopes of the east, south and west of the island, while the whole of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura could be affected, as could all of Tenerife, El Hierro and La Gomera as well as some coasts on La Palma.

The Canary Islands government have issued confirmation that they are preparing in case forecasts require increased warnings, in the form of two pre-alert declarations
