The new €50 banknote in circulation

The new €50 bank note, the fourth in the Europa series, came in to circulation on 4 April.

To further complicate the counterfeiting of euro banknotes, the security features of the new banknote include a portrait window located at the top of the hologram, which becomes transparent when looking through it at light. The window shows a portrait of Europa, the personage of Greek mythology, visible in both sides of the note. The portrait is also seen in the watermark. By tilting the note, the emerald green number produces a metallic reflection that moves vertically.
