Policia Nacional in the south of Gran Canaria have located a suitcase containing jewellery inside, valued at more than €100,000 that appears to have been lost on arrival to the island by its owner, a foreign tourist.
The search for the missing bag was triggered following a report from a foreign couple who had arrived on the island for their holidays. They stated that having gone to the public parking area at the airport to collect their rental car, they found they had forgotten one of their suitcases in an elevator.
A police investigation was initiated, which determined that the suitcase had been taken to the south of the island, down to San Fernando de Maspalomas, where it was being stored by a tour operator as the owner could not be located.
The suitcase has now been returned to its legitimate owners.
