Mogán town hall have announced a project to clean the seabed of the Port of Arguineguín on Sunday 22 of January, in collaboration with Puertos Canarios. The action aims to improve the image of the Port, which serves as a home port and workplace for many sailors in the municipality.
The operation will take place between 10:00-14:00 and will include underwater work with volunteer divers from various groups in the area, which will be supported by several boats belonging to the Arguineguín Fishermen’s Guild. After cleaning, refreshments will be offered to the volunteers in the port facilities.
The local Councillor for Fisheries, Artemi Artiles, explained that “this project will be carried out entirely with municipal funds. In addition, the City Council will be in charge of managing the treatment and transfer of the waste collected to the landfill. ” Artiles expressed his gratitude “both to the Fishermen’s Guild of Arguineguín, collaborating with their boats and personnel, as well as to the Canarian Ports authority, for helping to improve the image of the port, which is the work place of a large number of [people in the municipality] that are dedicated to the fishing sector “.
The registration deadline for volunteers who are interested in collaborating on the project with the Municipality of Mogán will be open until Monday, January 16.
