2017 Maspalomas International Carnival

Maspalomas Carnival starts tonight, Friday 3rd March and runs until the 12th March 2017

The main stage for the event is all set and ready decorated with monuments and buildings reminiscent of various sights around Europe and specifically countries like UK, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, France and Austria in honour of the millions of tourists who visit the municipality.

All the main events happens on the Carnival main stage, are at the Shopping Center Yumbo in Playa del Ingles.

On Friday 3.3. Maspalomas International Carnival officially started today.

The day commenced with the announcer float parading through the residential and tourist areas of Maspalomas, accompanied by Carnival music groups, having started off from the Mercado municipal de San Fernando at 11:00 am.

This evening the program of events begin on the Carnival main stage, located at the Yumbo shopping centre in Playa del Ingles from 21:00 with the Opening Gala.  Music and dance performances and the introduction of participants for the Carnival Queen election due to happen tomorrow night.

On Saturday 4.3. the Carnival Queen competition is to be hosted on the main stage starting at 21:00. The gala be presented by model Jose Croissier and singer Tamara, who will also perform some of her songs. The magical night will feature composer and singer Michael Corradini and Fruela , known for their participation in the “The X Factor” competition in Britain.

Afterwards a big Carnival night party known as a “Mogollón” from 23:00

On Sunday 5.3. it’s all about the young ones in the family with Children’s Carnival starting at 17:00 in Avenida Estados Unidos with bouncy castles, carnival workshops and other surprises. Election of the Childrens Queen follows at 19:00 on the stage in CC Yumbo.

On Monday 6.3. The “Without Barriers” gala starts from 19:00 in CC Yumbo. One of the most heartwarming events with enhanced Carnival spirit proving that Carnival celebrations belongs to all of us. Various performances through out the night designed to include and entertain all those who might otherwise feel excluded from this community event.

On Tuesday 7.3. The day starts with a free latin dance workshops at 19:00. At 21:00 ‘Gala a todo ritmo’  (“in full swing”) is the show that is all about dancing with multiple amazing performances for all the fans of dance and latin rhythms. At 22:30 the Drag Queen Pre-selection starts with many of the acts already seen in Las Palmas, now visiting the south to compete.

On Wednesday 8.3. Performances from local bands at 20:00 and at 21:00 the election of the Senior Carnival Queen “The Great Lady” on stage at CC Yumbo. The participants are all over 60 years of age and the evening is filled with good humour, music and dance performances.

On Thursday 9.3. one of the most anticipated events at every carnival; the election of the Drag Queen 2017. With 14 candidates giving their best performances during the packed event starting at 21:00 on stage in CC Yumbo.

Afterwards a big Carnival night party “Mogollón” at 23:00

On Friday 10.3. Tourist Day on the Maspalomas beach- Playa del Inglés starting at 12:00 with the Rescue of the Sardine. The Procession starts from charca de Maspalomas and travels along Maspalomas beach until it reaches CC Anexo II in Playa del Ingles. On Calle Dunas in Anexo II entertainment and music.

In the evening from 21:00 the tourist show on stage in CC Yumbo. With some amazing performances and acts including the outstanding team from Garbo’s Unforgettable and of course candidates and winners from this year’s Carnival Queen, Drag, Childrens and Great Lady galas and many more.

Afterwards a big Carnival night party “Mogollón” from 23:00

On Saturday 11.3. The Maspalomas Carnival parade starts at 17:00. With the winners of Drag, Queen, Children and Great Lady Galas, lots of carnival floats, cars, music and dance groups and thousands upon thousands of parade people dressed to impressed.

This always means major road closures in the area.

After the parade a big Carnival night party “Mogollón” at 22:00

On Sunday 12.3. at 14:00 the funeral procession for the Sardine commences from the Centro Insular de Turismo de Playa del Ingles and continues via Avenida de Alféreces Provicionales ( to the beach ) until it reaches the stage at Anexo II. ( Calle Dunas )

Reading the Sardines last will at 20:o0 and the burial burning of the Sardine and fireworks spectacle at 20:30 which will officially close the celebration of this year Maspalomas Carnival.
