Gran Canaria Airport has handed over, to the municipalities of Ingenio and Telde, 11,095 of the 13,711 lost or forgotten & unclaimed items found between 2012 and 2014 within the airport zone. The town halls will in turn donate the items to various organizations involved in social care and the community. The remaining 2,561 found objects were successfully returned to their owners.

These are objects which, after the expiration of a mandatory period, stipulated by legislation, were not claimed or withdrawn by their owners (who have up to two years to apply) or by the people who found and delivered them to the airport’s ‘lost and found’ – office. Baby carriages, clothes, glasses, handbags, watches, backpacks, suitcases, belts, cameras, computers and tablets, make up the majority of the items now handed over to the two municipal town halls for redistribution.

In 2016, the ‘lost and found’ office at Gran Canaria Airport registered 7,012 objects either lost or forgotten in the entire airport area and managed to return 1,242 items back to their owners.
