The body of a man with a gunshot wound has been recovered from the waters near the Arguineguín quayside, off the southwest coast of Gran Canaria. Guardia Civil have begun an investigation into the grisly find, according to 112 reports emerging this Tuesday morning.
The alarm was raised about a possible drowning victim near the quay in the municipality of Mogán, and emergency medical personnel and two ambulances from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) were mobilised. On arrival they could only confirm the death of the victim, a male, carrying no documentation, with a gunshot wound to the chest, explained in a statement from the 112, Regional Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre.
The discovery, at about 9.30 last night, also led to deployment of local police officers and Guardia Civil, who took charge of the investigations of the facts.
The identity and nationality of the victim are not yet known.
No official comment has been yet made to journalists by the Guardia Civil Command in Las Palmas.
