Full moon on Christmas Day

Christmas day, 25 December will be a full moon. Quite a rare event, it hasn’t occurred since 1977 and will not happen again until Christmas 2034.

This is the first full moon of winter, which officially begins two days earlier.

The December Full Moon, which is the last of the year, is called the Cold Full Moon, because December nights are at their longest and darkest stage.
