Cabildo launches Gran Canaria Fashion Month

No-where in Europe does Hot Fashion & Swimwear quite as well as Gran Canaria

The Cabildo of Gran Canaria Island Council today launched Gran Canaria Fashion Month with a program of activities that will fill June with swimwear, prêt à porter, lingerie and accessories with a highlight on Semana de la Moda Baño Gran Canaria Swimwear Fashion Week, a unique event in Europe, as the main dish, industry minister Minerva Alonso reported today.

The program begins with theEl Mercado Secreto Secret Market putting on pre-sale 800 pieces from the spring-summer 2017 collection, while the emblematic Moda Cálida Mercado de Gran Canaria will offer pieces from previous seasons at special discount prices, two highlight events that fashion fashion followers on Gran Canaria will not want to miss.

The first milestone event will be at the Hotel Bed&Chic, in the capital of Gran Canaria, who will open their doors for the Secret Market this Friday, June 2nd from 17:00 to 23:00 hours.

On Saturday from 11am a day of catwalk parades, opening with the children’s fashions of MiMenina, and from 16.00 to 18.30 collections from Como la Trucha al Trucho, Vevas, PS Swinwear, Jose García Couture and Chela Clo.

The public will be able to buy the very latest high fashion swimwear for both adults and children, prêt à porter, perfumes and accessories from the Pedro Palmas brands, Como la Trucha al Trucho, Arcadio Domínguez, Gonzales UnderwearHipertrófico, PS Swimwear, José García, Maldito Sweet, Chela Clo, It Child, MiMenina and La Rana Roja, Alonso said at a presentation this morning, along with the island’s director of Industry, Juan Manuel Gabella.

Catwalk Las Canteras
Las Canteras Beach will be the scene of another Fashion Month initiative with catwalk parades on The Block terrace (9 and 10 June) and the participation of eight companies: Maldito Sweet, Chela Clo, PS SwimwearEgea Arte en Piel, Calima Swimwear, José GarcíaComo la Trucha al Trucho and Pedro Palmas.

The star event of Gran Canaria Fashion Month will of course be the Semana de la Moda Baño Gran Canaria Swimwear Fashion Week, at the Expomeloneras Palacio de Congresos from June 15 to 18, with various novelties promised to be unveiled soon, all set to emphasise promotion through social networks, essential to publicising these top brands nationally and internationally.

Another Fashion Month initiatives will see companies that have paraded their collections during Swimwear Week participate in catwalk shows on June 18 and 20, also in Expomeloneras, in a space where designers will be able to make direct contact with potential buyers elaborating on details of the creations and this year’s collection.

This Gran Canaria Moda Calida is being presented as a great opportunity for increased commercialisation of local design brands and their collections shown on the catwalk over the previous days, Alonso told reporters.

The Fashion Month program will close with the Gran Canaria Moda Calida Fashion Market from July 4 to 8 in La Sala de la Fedac in the capital of Gran Canaria, a great opportunity to purchase clothes from previous seasons at attractive prices.

The multitude of planned actions this year have a wide range of sponsoring companies, including Expomeloneras, Heineken, Audi, Icon, Café del Mar, Iquos, Fund Grube, Blat Vodka, Laser Depliación Canarias, Natura Bissé and Dragonfly who will join the Cabildo to report on the new innovations through the main Gran Canaria Moda Calida Swimwear Fashion Week pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #GranCanariaSFW.
